Drysdale Dropped From Weekend Game
Thursday, 18th Feb 2021 12:10

Referee Darren Drysdale has been dropped from his scheduled weekend fixture following the incident in which he squared-up to Town’s Alan Judge during Tuesday's 0-0 home draw with Northampton.

Drysdale, who turns 50 today, was due to officiate in Southend United’s home game against Bolton Wanderers but having been charged with improper conduct by the FA, has been withdrawn.

Yesterday, Lincolnshire-based official Drysdale apologised to Town and Judge via Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) with the Blues midfielder subsequently saying that he hadn’t expected an apology and that for him the matter was closed as soon as he left the field.

A game or two is fair. That's what a player would get for doing the same thing. That should shut up all the people saying it's harsh on the ref when players get away with similar (they don't)

What he did was totally wrong. He has to keep his cool. If a player did that he would have been banned indefinitely.

What about the penalty he didnt give. Have referees been given instructions to wind Ipswich up?

Given the referee's apparent attitude and decisions, shouldn't we be asking for the match to be replayed?

@mib I'm with you on that been saying that for a while 24 teams in league 1 and 23 have been given penalties guess the 1 team that hasn't and I can think of atleast 6 or 7 defo we should of had and 4 to 5 which went against us

If video evidence shows that on top of the referees behaviour a penalty was overlooked then there really is a case for the match to be replayed. However there is also a seriously congested fixture list so replays my not be an option. However we know how EFL works, they'll ambivalate and do nothing.

the ref should stick two fingers up at the fa and move onto something more rewarding

Downes also pushed the referee Town players can also be heard swearing at him alot so it is all not one way no individual should take any abuse. He was wrong and will be punished but Town players are currently abusive and foul more than ever. We give pointless fouls away week in week out and have lost control just look at are bookings and sending off including management staff it is appalling. We got more than we deserved on Tues from a game point of view as with alot of our stuff discipline has gone and we use points such as this incident as an excuse we are in a bad way on and off the pitch

Baldman, if we spent a little time in the opposition penalty area now and again we might get lucky! On The few occasions that we have ventured in we're moving at such a snail's pace that everything looks like a dive!

Grinch. What are you on about. All Downes did during that incident, is exactly the same as the Northampton players did, and move the referee away from judge in order to calm the incident down. What he did after, getting red carded for offensive language is another matter. But let's not criticisexhim for something he didnt do.

Sam white uk. No, if a player did that to a referee hed be banned for some time. Prob at least 8 matches. And Marcus. Are you for real? If every match where a penalty wasnt given was replayed, the season would never end.

No no no, the game must definitely not be replayed.
We are so bad, we'd probably lose the replay.
Right now I'd be afraid to play Bury Town.
Just wish the ref had stuck his head into Lambert. We'd all be recommending a knighthood not a suspension.
