Blue Action: Protest Claims Sensationalist and Exaggerated
Monday, 22nd Feb 2021 10:29

Independent supporters group Blue Action has issued a statement disputing aspects of the club’s version of the events relating to their protest at Playford Road last Monday which led to training being suspended for 10 minutes.

After the demonstration, the club issued a statement having been approached by the national media, which read: “There was an incident at the training ground this morning where flares were thrown over a perimeter fence adjacent to the players.

“The flares caused signage on the fence to catch alight and in doing so put our staff at risk.

“The police were called and are investigating the matter. The supporters' group concerned have apologised for their actions.”

However, in a lengthy response released on social media, Blue Action dispute much of that account.

Suffolk Constabulary issued a statement regarding the incident last Tuesday: “Police were called at 10.30am yesterday (Monday 15th February) to reports of a number of people setting off flares on Playford Road in Ipswich.

“Those involved reportedly left the scene on foot, heading towards Rushmere Heath.

“Police attended and searched the area but found no trace of any suspects. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Spot on Blue Action...your actions highlighted the sorry state of affairs at our once proud club.. national media took note and it has brought pressure on the club...and the lies spouted by the club surely indicate the mess they are in...well done BA and thank you!

Well having waited 'for the full facts' as Blue Action put it, I continue to think it was an absolutely shocking protest. Utterly ashamed to have Blue Action represent our club.

Not exactly 'essential work' is it? We are in the middle of a global pandemic, and thousands of people have been dying. But no, you're right. Thank goodness you went and set off a smoke bomb. That'll show the club. That'll make all those Covid deaths justified. Any of you actually work in a hospital and see people suffer horribly with the disease?

The comments on here (mine included) clearly shows the deep differences within the club and the fan base. The strength of feelings, often poles apart, all have a value.

It's going to take some fixing, not to say a shed load of dosh.

(Has he gone yet?)

The irresponsible thing was to do this in Covid times. I hope Blue Action kept their distances and travelled separately
Whilst this protest may have been ill judged due to its timing something does need to be done to highlight the unacceptable rot that has set in.
Maybe better options would be leaving a covid safe tractor load of manure outside each training ground entrance, catapulting endless quantities of bread onto the training pitch so it attracts gulls, hiring a jumbo screen showing players playing attacking football and scoring goals.
This protest should not be a one off

So, blue action say no flares were thrown? Yet if you watch the video, you can clearly see a flare hitting the ground inside the fence. Even if they hadnt been, theycshouldnt have been using pyrotechnics anyway. It's illegal. And as safe, as they claim? What if some1 suffers from asthma? And do they care when they let smoke bombs off in enclosed spaces inside grounds? The only reason you lot are siding with b.a., is bcse ur pissed off with whats going on at the club. Well,so am I, and all fans, but we arent gonna break the law just to make the point. And if there was no police investigation, why did the police make a statement, the day after this event? And why has it taken over a week for b.a. to make a statement themselves? Taken that long to come up with a story, or to write it?

Knobs if no crime was committed why don't they discuss this in person with Suffolk Constabulary rather than running away and issuing anonymous statements!

blues1 I suggest you have a look again. No flares go over the fence. Also, please enlighten us all as to who the players in our squad that suffer from asthma are?

cinnamonITFC and slade1 - Blue Action don't represent the club and have never claimed to. They are a simply a group of fans who care deeply enough about the club to act. If you are happy with Evans' disastrous running of the club and Lambert's inept stewardship of the first team, that's your prerogative, feel free to start your own group.

Nothing is won in February, yes you can ‘lose' the title by February but we don't have the players to be considered one of the best two teams in the League. We ARE in the mix for the play off positions so why not support your club and players come hell or high water until such time it's mathematically impossible to reach 6th spot?

Sure you are fed up with lockdown, sure you want Town in Championship and beyond (we all are and all do) but in life you have to deal with the hand you are dealt not throw your toys out of your pram.....

How is it on this forum that if you don't agree with BA and their actions you automatically must be siding with Evans and Lambert?! It's a nonsense view. I'm not happy with how things are going at itfc. But funnily enough, nothing has improved since the BA protest. And for anyone that says it's made the issues at the club public, we live in a 15 minute social media world now. It's yesterday's news to everyone, apart from town fans on this forum. So it hasn't actually achieved anything. If Lambert goes, which i think he should, it won't be because of anything that BA do.
