Lambert Not Interested in Celtic Job
Thursday, 25th Feb 2021 17:36

Town boss Paul Lambert says he’s not interested in the vacant manager’s job at his former club Celtic.

Lambert, 51, says he doesn’t want to do anything which might risk damaging his relationship with Parkhead supporters having played at his hometown club between 1997 and 2005.

"I played for eight years, but I left the Glasgow scene a long time ago,” Lambert told Sky Sports News.

“That's not my life anymore. I don't want to tarnish the good feelings I have with the Celtic fans.

“We won a hell of a lot, stopping Rangers winning ten [league titles] in a row in 1998. That was an incredible achievement.”

Manager Neil Lennon resigned yesterday with the Bhoys 18 points behind Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

“You have to realise, if you finish second, you fail. The new chief executive needs to look at the bigger picture,” Lambert added.

“You have to get trophies back and get the pendulum swinging back your way.

"Nine years of dominance - they have to get that back. If he thinks he will get one or two years of grace, he won't get it. And rightly so, he shouldn't get it.”

Lambert is currently ranked as a 33-1 outside for the job with caretaker-manager John Kennedy the 2-1 favourite for the role with ex-Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe second-favourite at 3-1.

Lamberts record here is terrible. Terrible. There isn't another club in the country who wouldn't have sacked him. Unlikely to get another job. That's why he's not interested. Look at his history after Norwich. Shocking. Celtic won't want him. League two clubs wouldn't want him.

He'd much rather tarnish the rival supporters of his former club where had his best playing days...I very much doubt PL would ever be on the short list at Celtic with his track record so this is all conjecture!

The truth is they are not interested in him. Why on earth would they be with his management record.

Does he honestly think he would be in the running for the job with his recent record?

therein61- IF you are describing Norwich as a "yo-yo" club then I guess that must make us just a "yo" club.

Why would anyone risk vile abuse for failure at a BIG SCOTTISH CLUB when ya can toss it off bumming around English clubs and still earn £££ thousands every week. All ya got to do is continually blow ya own trumpet and ignore the criticism. There are plenty of rich football club owners in England who will fall for it. Ha. What a win win industry to be in.

he's only only interested in big clubs, huge clubs .He wasnt/isnt in Celtics thoughts so in an effort to save face he says he isnt interested ,simple. I cant see any club chasing after him with a contract and pen ,when he does depart Portman rd ,and certainly no big club that demands success.Evans is not interested in football, has no knowledge of football, and has no ambition in football. He came in on whim thought he could reap rewards of Premiership, it backfired, and the shine has been going off the venture ever since.Sooner both are gone the better.

Probably because they wouldn't want him now with his brand of random abject football and his less than adequate win record!

As if they'd approach him. Bit of a non story this one.

“That's not my life anymore. I don't want to tarnish the good feelings I have with the Celtic fans".

That Mr Lambert, is because you know full well that you are completely inept as a football manager and failure at yet another club would be inevitable, thus destroying any kind of good feelings with the fans.
