Lambert on Evans Meeting: It’s Not Interesting, I’ve Got My Opinion and He’s Got His
Friday, 26th Feb 2021 10:15

Boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he held his planned meeting with owner Marcus Evans yesterday but kept tight-lipped regarding what they discussed, saying only that each of them had their opinions and insisting what was talked about wasn’t interesting.

Evans was at Portman Road for much of yesterday, and will also be there today, and met with general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill among others before catching up with Lambert early in the evening.

Lambert confirmed that the two spoke: “Aye, it was just what it is. Unfortunately for you guys [the media], these talks aren’t as interesting as what you might think they are. Marcus had his say, I had my say. But not interesting at all.”

Are these discussions not as dramatic as those on the outside might think? “It’s not. You guys, I really don’t know what you guys [think about it]. He has his opinion, I’ve got mine. I guess if he wants to say something, he’ll say something. But there’s no interest in it, put it that way.”

Asked what was discussed, whether his critical comments on the club’s structure and failings going back beyond his time at the club came up, he wouldn’t go into details: “Just what I said, it’s not interesting. Honestly, it’s not interesting. I’ve got my opinion and he’s got his. Let’s probably leave it at that. That’s probably the best way to do it. As I said, not interesting.”

cromwellblue I think we are right in assuming that there would need to be a sizable payoff if Lambert were fired, and recent results have been good (we haven't lost at least) especially the Hull game, so maybe he has some hope because with a few decent results we could be right up in the playoffs (not that I hold out much hope). I think Lambert will do just enough to keep his job until the end of the season, but not enough to get the fans onside.

Someone wake me up when it's all over. Thankfully the players have given us something to cheer in the last few games, but this club is crying out for structural change. Let's hope these rumours of a takeover are more than just rumours and that any new owner isn't in it for a quick gamble.

So he was there most of the day but he didn't talk to his manager until early evening.

Mmmmm.

Cromwellblue. You clearly have no idea of how contracts work. When a long term contract is given, there is always an agreed amount for which that contract can be terminated. So of course he can afford to pay him off.

Bonzoblue - "Thankfully the players have given us something to cheer in the last few games," ....... Really ? a couple of uninspiring 0.0 draws and a 1.0 win finally against a team above us!

I would say it is of great interest to the paying public i.e the fans what is going on or are we only important when they need our money and support?

Likewise Lambo, everything that you and the other bellends in the management team have to say is not interesting. In fact just say nothing until you've gone.

The sheer attitude to wards the fans is unbelievable from both Lambert and Evans. The fans want clarity not stupid childish statements. Know wonder the fans are despondent and can only see no future in the club's direction. It gets sadder by the day.

I've always said that if I won the lottery I would buy itfc, although I'm not sure what I would buy if I had 4 numbers come up?

BLAH,BLAH,BLAH nothing changes as usual. If it was that uninteresting why bother to meet. I think something is in the air and its not cigar smoke, but more like sulphur. Squeaky bum time, let's hope so. I think everything hangs in the air like sulphur! Shame Nigel Pearson is now employed at Bristol. Hey ho.

Buying time. If....IF.....the miracle happens and we reach the play-offs and a bigger IF we gain promotion....the Lambert Out issue is over as far as Evans is concerned.

Most of us feel any of those two things are a very remote possibility. It just a miserable saga and frustrating time trying to feel any interest in "Evans ITFC".It is just one sorry story after another.

Phil, I presume you have requested a conversation/statement from Marcus Evans re current state of play at ITFC. And I presume Marcus Evans just refuses to engage?

Despite Town falling to their lowest position in just about anyone's living memory there are still fans proclaiming 'careful what you wish for' and urging caution with a 'better the devil you know' attitude towards Evans vs a prospective takeover. Really quite unbelievable... 😂🤣

what I find interesting is Evans spoke to O'Neill and others and then later spoke with Lambert. was he asking what they think of him and his tactics and man management?

PL: I've played for some big big clubs Marcus, I've played in Europe, won the champions league with Dortmund, managed some big big clubs in the premier league.

ME: I've got £750 million quid in the bank.

PL: OK Marcus you win 😂🤣

Its all just horrible , but then when has PL ever said anything original , upbeat ,passionate ,amusing or inclusive ?
Blames the press , like that orange person in the USA.
He just gives out same old recycled BS yet supposed to be a leader and motivator ?
