Lambert on Evans Meeting: It’s Not Interesting, I’ve Got My Opinion and He’s Got His
Friday, 26th Feb 2021 10:15

Boss Paul Lambert has confirmed that he held his planned meeting with owner Marcus Evans yesterday but kept tight-lipped regarding what they discussed, saying only that each of them had their opinions and insisting what was talked about wasn’t interesting.

Evans was at Portman Road for much of yesterday, and will also be there today, and met with general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill among others before catching up with Lambert early in the evening.

Lambert confirmed that the two spoke: “Aye, it was just what it is. Unfortunately for you guys [the media], these talks aren’t as interesting as what you might think they are. Marcus had his say, I had my say. But not interesting at all.”

Are these discussions not as dramatic as those on the outside might think? “It’s not. You guys, I really don’t know what you guys [think about it]. He has his opinion, I’ve got mine. I guess if he wants to say something, he’ll say something. But there’s no interest in it, put it that way.”

Asked what was discussed, whether his critical comments on the club’s structure and failings going back beyond his time at the club came up, he wouldn’t go into details: “Just what I said, it’s not interesting. Honestly, it’s not interesting. I’ve got my opinion and he’s got his. Let’s probably leave it at that. That’s probably the best way to do it. As I said, not interesting.”

It's really quite unbelievable that a poster on here is if the opinion that when selling a club you don't have to be cautious about a prospective buyer. Really quite unbelievable.....⚽️🤨

could be, and thats why Evans is keeping quiet at moment, Nothing positive yet. Lambert would say it wasnt of any interest, he is only sitting it all out till he gets the call he will be happy with a pay off, and a job as a pundit ,cant see him managing another club anytime soon.Perhaps he will write a book , '' My life with huge clubs'' . or release a cover version of ''I did it my way''.

Judging by the article just posted on twitter by The Athletic, I would say it looks very interesting. States Phoenix Rising buying club at £17.5m debt free, with Lambert due to be replaced by Paul Cook.

Please be true - Onwards & Upwards.

IF anything is going on behind the scenes - whatever that anything might be - we can't really expect to hear about it until something concrete is finalised. However, PL is his own biggest enemy in terms of PR (that's Public Relations, by the way, not Portman Road!). I think he actually means well, but he is just not articulate enough. He repeats himself, he contradicts himself, and generally leaves you wondering what the hell he is taking about. That all contributes to creating a bad impression. ME, on the other hand, chooses to hardly communicate at all .

Evans: Paul, I'm selling the club.

Lambert to media: Nothing interesting was discussed.

As Evans hasn't made a statement reaffirming his support for Lambert, it suggests that the takeover is real or he plans to get rid of Lambert as soon as the terms of his contract allows. Lambert either knows but can't say anything, because his compensation is conditional on keeping quiet or he hasn't been told, to keep him motivated until the takeover happens or Evans can trigger the termination clause.

Clearly a lot of people on this thread who know a lot about running a multi million pound business or two and have a good idea what they would do if they were clever enough / fortunate enough to be sitting on a few hundred million!

ME will listen to serious interest so fill your boots.....but don't forget you have to be prepared to invest your hard earned. Although you will probably only have to be prepared to pop in a couple of million a year to get Marcus to give your ideas consideration.

200 regular posters on here? That's just £10k per year per poster average

Who is going to keep count of the ‘count me in'
