Town: Evans Not Actively Looking to Sell
Friday, 26th Feb 2021 19:43

Town have issued a statement in response to the news of takeover interest in the club.

As reported yesterday, and in greater detail earlier this afternoon, a largely US-based group is looking to complete a takeover of the Blues.

However, in a statement the club insist that owner Marcus Evans is not touting the club around although would, as he has said in the past, listen to interest.

A spokesman said: “Marcus Evans reiterates that he is not actively looking to sell the club and remains fully focused on taking Ipswich Town back to the Championship.

“However, as he has also stated in the past, he would speak to interested parties if they can prove themselves to be credible buyers that would provide sustainable, long-term investment."

This statement means "they are still in negotiations, and they have not agreed on a price"

He's just summed up exactly why he shouldn't be running the club! - he has no
interest in ITFC or Football in general

On slightly different note on the BBC sport web page yesterday derby country takeover deal was said to be done 3months ago but it still not happened , so the question is has this(itfc deal) been going on for months or are we going to have to wait.

Like others I want Evans to sell, but if the report in the Bristol Live is anything to go by about Mark Ashton, it doesn't sound very promising if this US consortium buys us and puts him in charge as CEO.
Will much really change?

Marcus Evans must realise he has been very naive. Or maybe he doesn't as he didn't wish MM to go. Not the wrong decision. The Silly one after started the demise. Think it's worthless giving him below the belt stick though

It worries me that some American venture capitalist group are rumoured to be potential buyers. What will they do if things do not go well?? Probably bale out and leave us to disappear completely. For all ME's faults he has kept the club financially alive - can't imagine venture capitalists putting in millions year after year. Look what these people have done to so many high street businesses.
T would matter not if Jeff Bezoz or Elon Musk bought ITFC - they could not go on a spending spree due to FFP so all you optimists thinking a new owner would buy success think again.
I am not happy being where we are but at least we are still alive and kicking.

Probably Evans will see this season out with his Mate Lambert at the Helm ????
Because at the moment every thing to do with the Club is all up and down, also Evans has not come out with a statement of any sort to the Fans ??

I dislike Evans more and more. He has presided over the most dreadful period in our fine club's history and still has the gall to come out with a statement like this. Just say nothing Evans, it's your stock and trade and in this situation would have been better.
