Town Spend £341,622 on Agents' Fees
Wednesday, 31st Mar 2021 14:56

Town spent £341,622 on agents’ fees between February 1st 2020 and February 1st this year, a little up on the £325,262 paid out during the previous year.

Only Hull City (£543,238) and Sunderland (£406,207) spent more on what are now officially known as intermediaries. In total clubs in the third tier paid out £3,082,105..

The £341,622 covers 12 transactions, permanent signings, new contracts for players already at the club and a loan. The Blues didn't pay out a transfer fee during the period covered.

No agents' fees are listed for the January loan additions of Josh Harrop, Troy Parrott and Luke Matheson

The FA has been required to publish clubs' spending on intermediaries by FIFA regulations since April 2015.

Value for money? Stupid question!

Can’t hear the shrieks of pain over very loud agents’ laughter😂

The sooner agents are removed from the game the better. Absolute scamming blood suckers. A horrific drain on the game.

When has an agent ever really completed a deal that is more beneficial to a player or a club than lining their own pockets.

Shouldn’t agents fees be paid for by the players who employ them, not the clubs?

For those of you that enjoyed the Brian Clough quote the following book comes highly recommended. It's currently only 99p in Kindle format which is an absolute steal:

PROVIDED YOU DON’T KISS ME: 20 Years with Brian Clough by Duncan Hamilton
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0007247117

"Brian Clough’s twenty years as Nottingham Forest manager were an unpredictable mixture of success, failure, fall-outs and alcoholism. Duncan Hamilton, initiated as a young journalist into the Brian Clough empire, was there to see it all. In this strikingly intimate biography – William Hill Sports Book of the Year 2007 – Hamilton paints a vivid portrait of one of football’s greatest managers: from Nottingham Forest’s double European Cup triumph to the torturous breakdown of relations at the club and Clough’s descent into alcoholism.

Sad, joyous and personal, Hamilton’s account of life with Brian Clough is a touching tribute to a brilliant man."

It does seem as a football club we get shafted constantly. I remember a few years back when in the championship, we had one of the highest wage bills in the league. For a mid to lower and eventually relegated team that's obscene. Considering that we barely spend on transfer fees and rely on frees majority of the time.

We should be able to save an absolute fortune this summer with only one or two contract renewals of the 20+ out of contract !!!
No many seem to warrant a new contract IMO

Must be a better way to handle moves and contracts without need for Agents. Doesn’t need much thinking about and could make football ethical

Well they must have earned it, talking up the bunch of muppets we have on our books to the point where the club felt they were buying world class players and couldn't do without them.

If a player wants an agent fine but they should be responsible for the fee. The Prem clubs wont stand up to the agents who are taking money out of the game. I'd like to see clubs stand up to the agents and say no to their fees.
I imagine that a sale would include the agents fee then but if the player is unhappy then at least he can change his agent or whatever but if the club has been sold a bad deal then they can do nothing .
