Folami and Viral Depart Town
Thursday, 8th Apr 2021 14:41

Striker Ben Folami and midfielder Allan Viral are both leaving the club with their contracts up in addition to Adam Przybek, Harry Wright, Kai Brown and Zak Brown, who TWTD revealed have not been offered new deals earlier today.

Australia U23 international Folami, 21, is currently on loan with the Melbourne Victory having made four senior starts and three sub appearances for the Blues after joining as a scholar at 16.

Frenchman Viral, who also joined the academy at 16, made his only two senior appearances in the Papa John’s Trophy this season, one start and one sub appearance.

The 19-year-old recently spent time on trial at French Ligue 2 side Valenciennes.

Confirming the departure of all six players, Town’s general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill told the club site: "We'd like to wish all the boys the very best of luck for the future.”

@pencilpete He is very involved in building community ties with the club. He had the unfortunate job of being Evans' spokesman which made him look silly - but he does have a value with the club as a community liaison if they were to keep him.

I don't understand the organization at the club, I would suggest that there hasn't been any for quite some time. I'm still trying to work out who was the Chairman during the ME era.

Everything will become clearer with this takeover : and there will be positive improvements : particularly like the idea of a proper CEO to bolster ALL to do with the business both at the Football ground , and in the game !

Our development of young players over the past two or three years has been very disappointing bearing in mind we are playing in a very poor league. We haven't really produced any one of note since Downes and Wolfenden who proved themselves on loan at other league clubs. Most of our current youngsters are not even good enough to go to league clubs on loan and end up playing non league on loan.

Good luck to all of the youngsters. This doesnt mean it's the end for you in football, just look at our released keeper Pope!. All the very best.

Now time to announce who from our first team who are being released and play all those being kept by the club as they will give their all over these critical matches.

Shame for these two , who I thought showed potential , but the club has such a large squad no surprise to see these players leave and more will follow.

We all know you are trying to choke back those salty tears that now both your messiahs in Mick & Marcus are no longer destroying this club, perhaps you might all be better off following Cardiff or Chelski?

ESSEX75. What are you on about? Not every player at an academy is gonna make it through to the 1st team. In fact, always be far more who dont, than do. And that's not just here, it's at every club. Occasionally a club will get a spell where several make it. But most of the time, it's the odd one or two that succeed.

SteveITFCSweden Dont think you can call Mcgavin a success who couldn't even get a game at Little old Ayr United. Mind you i still rate him better than Dozzell which is not saying much. And with Paul Cook bringing in better players next season he's going have to improve dramatically.

Looks like we're gonna need a few players from somewhere !!
The question is WHERE ? and HOW ?

Are we a Ship heading in the right direction under full Steam - or are we a Ship in distress ??
Only time will tell..... !!!
At this moment, I am not at all sure, or convinced of either.
Mass euphoria will not provide the desired outcome, it should be remembered.

This is great and just the start of a complete revamp of the club that has been needed for years.

This is now no longer a club where old or infirm or not bothered footballers can make a nice living whilst seeing out there days----this is going to be a proper club again and we will all reap the benefit-----BRING IT ON!!

I wish the lads who are going every success in the future.
No surprises here really. One of the problems we've had this season is that the squad is too big, and that's before consideration is given to all the players on the fringes.
