Parrott Linked With Loan Return
Wednesday, 14th Apr 2021 16:03

Town are claimed to want current loanee Troy Parrott back at Portman Road next season on the same basis.

Irish international Parrott joined the Blues in January and has so far scored one goal in 11 starts and four sub appearances. The 19-year-old was left out of last night’s squad at AFC Wimbledon and played in the U23s’ 1-0 home defeat to Barnsley.

According to Football League World, Town want Parrott to return next season and are said to be hopeful that that will be the case.

Parent club Spurs are believed to be happy with his progress at Portman Road, despite ideally wanting the Dubliner to gain further Championship experience next season - he was with Millwall in the first half of this campaign - something which he looks highly unlikely to be able to do at Town.

Manager Paul Cook was set to make sweeping changes to the Blues’ first-team squad even before last week’s takeover, which will give him significantly more spending power in the summer.

With Cook having been unaware that the takeover was happening until it was confirmed last Wednesday, it seems likely his recruitment plans for the close season are currently in their early stages.

God no....surely we are looking to be more ambitious than this!!??

BTW not just for ambitions sake. He is cr&p...proper pony. Cannot pass, shoot or score enough goals to warrant a start every week. If he is part of the new way forward, then we are fooked.

In theory I think he would thrive if the team was thriving. But in reality I think the fewer players that have been here over the last 3 years for next season the better. New blood, new start. But can we PLEASE find a goalscorer from our academy?? Too many namby pamby midfielders with skill but no balls or muscle of late. And can we also PLEASE rediscover the art of scouting!

We don't even know what market (£M, £000K, 00K, free transfers) we are shopping in to buy players, but I'd say yes, keep him for another season. Our own players are not in his class, and we have to keep those who ARE still under contract until summer 2022 or beyond even though they are inadequate to get us up out of this league.

If you are saying he is not good enough, then seriously who is going to drop down from the Premier League, grab this team by the scruff of the neck and drag it back up to 'where we belong"? George Burley managed to attract Tony Mowbray late 90s, we need that class of acquisition and I seriously doubt whether that level of player will come to us in mid League One.

Waghorn rejoining would be a dream. Needs service though...

Waghorn, Garner and McGoldrick were the last established strikers we had but of course were foolishly sold. Garner reappeared at Wigan but not sure where he is now. If we can get a couple of solid and creative midfielders and the new owners are seen to be investing soldly it might be possible to get Waghorn back. He and Norwood with another established 15 goals a season striker with Parrot and Simpson as back up could be enough. Key thing for Waggy would be for him to see potential for a return to the Championship end of next season.

Heard we spoke to Spurs about players, who gave us the bird, but didn't realise they meant Parrott.

I thought April Fools day had passed. Next will hear that Chambers Skuse & Sears are getting new deals. We are where we are partly because of the latter 3. Thankfully our new owners are not so foolish

I think signing Waghorn is a bit ambitious he can still do a job in the championship and then there's the question of wages, would be a massive signing though.

Why would he give another season to this carnage. Yes it should change and improve, but why gamble with your career like that. Far less pressure in an also-ran Championship side who want to get on the right side of Spurs.

We could not afford Waghorn
Apparently Derby TRIPLED his wages to get him to sign so he will be earning in excess £30k-£40k and was leaving because of that as well as other reasons well before Hurst arrived
Only scored 3 goals in 28 appearances this season !!!
Having said all that, if you could get the 31yo on a season long loan would be a good addition in L1, but would need to address the lack of creativity in the midfield !!!

Rhodes contract up in June, offer him a 4 year contract on top wages to "come home"

What matters is what he can do when surrounded by better more creative players. Has he got the potential to succeed in a better team ? We need to hang on to the handful of our squad that has that potential.

The likelihood is that we've dragged him down to our level. One goal isnt a great return, but it's not far off claiming top scorer for the season. When a team are so bereft of creativity and register so few attempts he was never going to be prolific. He can certainly do better than us........until we start rolling in it !
