Player of the Year Voting Open
Player of the Year Voting Open
Friday, 30th Apr 2021 10:24

Voting for this season’s Player of the Year has opened with the Supporters Club admitting that they held lengthy discussions before deciding to stage the award after such a disappointing and disrupted campaign.

They explained why on their website: “After prolonged debate we have decided to hold our annual Player of the Year poll. Some may ask why.

“We have held a Player of the Year poll every year since the 1972/73 season whether they have been good or bad, barring last year which we cancelled as the season did not finish due to Covid.

“This season, although the team’s performances have not been great, our supporters have been able to watch all games — home and away - if they wished via iFollow.

“This season will finish not with the outcome we all would have wished for or wanted, but we have decided to proceed with a vote.”

You can select your Player of the Year on their website here with voting ending on Tuesday and a presentation subsequently made to the winner.

Skipper Luke Chambers won the award when it was last held in the 2019/20 season.

I really can't bring myself to vote. It's not a poll of our best player, but a poll of our "least worst". I don't think a single one deserves the title of "Player of the Year".

What a shambles - just like our on pitch efforts. Last winner Chambers - which was also a rigged poll. Despite not being classified as MOTM for a single game here on TWTD that season on the ratings - somehow Chambers scooped the prize. What a joke...

Hmmmmm .... Player of the year - i'd vote for anyone if i could think of a positive moment.
Blackpool away was the standout performance IMO but over the course of the season have there been any standout performers ? not really like people have said Wilson has been OK when fit, Toto has tried but is still a liability and a penalty award waiting to happen, I think Downes has been the one we have missed the most when he isn't there, going forward .... erm probably Jon Nolan if i had to pick one

It really is like picking your favorite place to get kicked by an angry man wearing steel toecaps if i'm honest.

i think we should all vote for Mick Mills, shows more passion for the club than any of the wasters on the pitch, has to watch that rabble disgracing the club badge and it would also be a middle finger to the pr1ck Norwood who thought it would be funny to slag him off in order to troll the fans

Actually a better idea, let's all agree to vote for someone who hasn't played a game.... Baggot is a good shout for signing his contract.

Also tempted by Mathew Healy who I have never heard of (but hope I will in years to come)

Rename it.

Player who could be bothered the most?

Should narrow it down to about three!

Blue Balls!

That is actually not a bad idea at all to vote for Luke Thomas. In this bizarre season there is no player who stood out on the pitch.

But Luke did a brave statement that can mean a lot to others.

If we were to choose a loanee with mental problems ITFC-fans would for sure stand out with a statement worth making.

cannot believe some people are voting for toto, completely devalues the whole thing, his name up there with some of the greats, really??!!!
some need to have a bit of a rethink

possibly a case for Nydam for showing some guts

toto come on get real, don`t completely devalue the award

We have had some duff seasons havent we! Remember when Jimmy Bullard was awarded despite being only on loan! 5 goals in 16 games. Even he didnt think it was right.

A bit of a joke that players who came off the bench to play a few minutes in the FA Trophy are on the list - there should be some sort of filter - perhaps 5 starts or 450 minutes played? There should also be an abstention option for those who wish to vote for none of the above. Personally would pick a player, but the option should be there - in real life can spoil the vote or write in an option, this should be allowed online as well (Robert Ullathorne almost won one year for his own goal past Gunn).

Has it got to be a first team player? The U23's are in the play offs, and the U18''s in the Cup QF. They are ITFC players too and are far more deserving than the sorry excuse of a first team squad.

Should be renamed for this season "The Least Bad Player of the Season"

Cancel it should be the only acceptable outcome. I have watched all the games on ifollow and nobody deserves the award. How would a winner feel??
