Parrott in For Bishop as Town Otherwise Unchanged at Shrewsbury
Tuesday, 4th May 2021 18:13

Troy Parrott replaces Teddy Bishop, who drops to the bench, in an otherwise unchanged Blues side facing Shrewsbury at Montgomery Waters Meadow in their final away game of the season.

Dai Cornell is again in goal with Kane Vincent-Young at right-back and Myles Kenlock at left-back with Stephen Ward again missing out.

The veteran Irishman, who is with the squad and on the pitch as the players warm-up, appears to have played his final game for the club with his total of league starts this season having reached 29 and we understand, as was the case with Alan Judge, a 30th set to trigger another year with the Blues.

Andre Dozzell partners Flynn Downes in the middle of midfield with Gwion Edwards on the left and Armando Dobra on the right and Parrott behind lone out-and-out striker James Norwood, who again skippers.

For Shrewsbury, former Blues loanee Matthew Pennington starts at the heart of their defence.

Shrewsbury: Burgoyne, Love, Pennington, Pierre, Walker, Ogbeta, Davis, Vela, Norburn (c), Whalley, Bloxham. Subs: Bevan, Edwards, Williams, Goss, Main, Udoh, Chapman.

Town: Cornell, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, McGuinness, Kenlock, Dozzell, Downes, Edwards, Parrott, Dobra, Norwood (c). Subs: Holy, Chambers, Nsiala, Bishop, Harrop, Bennetts, Hawkins. Referee: Lee Swabey (Devon).

Does this mean Teddy Bishop is not getting a new contract? Or is it just based on Parrott doing well last time and Cook focussing on winning the game? Hopefully the latter.

I believe Town have also said they would like to have Parrott for next season. Hopeof got that right.

Should be a balanced side tonight but subject to review at 20.50 🤞🏻

Who knows., but I think Parrots selection is based on his performance on Saturday which improved the team when he came on from bench.

Bishop has already secured his new contract due to the terms of his existing deal.

Ward,Chambers,Skuse,Huws Holy and Sears look a certain to leave at the end of the season.
Woolfenden Downes Norwood look like they will stay and so does Dozzell hope he improves next year.

Edwards not sure of if he stays or goes

I'm not so sure Holy will go, but if he does I imagine the idea will be to get a new no. 1 in and keep Cornell on as a no. 2

I agree with you, I note that eight of the twin team tonight are still on contract pass this season.

Maybe a sign of who will stay .

I can easily imagine KVY, Kenlock, Woolfenden, Downes, Dozzell and Dobra all starting in August. Bishop is a possible too.
Can't see us staring the new season without at least a new GK, CB, winger and CF in the lineup.
That said, 5+ new signings starting will be a tough ask re creating fluidity in the first couple of months...we shall see.
