Colchester United could reportedly show summer interest in veteran Blues trio Luke Chambers, Cole Skuse and Freddie Sears.

All three are out of contract in the summer with Town expected to release most of those in that position.

Former U’s frontman Sears was interesting his old club in January with that link revived earlier in the week.

TWTD reported on Monday that Skuse was spotted at Colchester’s 1-0 home victory over Salford on Saturday with his friend the Wayne Brown, who is currently the manager of Maldon & Tiptree, a club with whom the U’s have a close link.

Former Town defender Brown was interim manager of the U’s between February and March this year following Steve Ball’s exit and Hayden Mullins’s appointment.

Now, the EADT reports that Colchester could be keen on bringing Sears, Skuse and Chambers to the JobServe Community Stadium this summer were they to be available.

It would be little surprise if all three were to depart Portman Road this summer with Skuse having made only one start and two sub appearances having undergone knee surgery early on in the season.

Sears has been in and out of the side throughout the campaign, while long-time Chambers’s absence from recent XIs has been notable.

I'm not blaming them - I just think many average players were seen as better than they really produced.

JewellintheTown added 10:07 - May 5 Chambers especially has been an excellent servant to the club. Their bodies might not have it in them anymore, but cant fault their commitment and attitude. Wish them all well and nothing bad. Don't deserve the haters on here giving them stick. One of the few that give 100%. Thought we were a better quality bunch of fans than that. Would like to see them back in a more off-field roll in the future, something like ambassadors in the community or even scouts. They all know their business and are true blues. Thanks for the service, guys! Best wishes for them and their families & hope to see them back at PR soon.

Skuse for years was so under appreciated by so many fans. What a terrific servant himself. Skuse sadly had his goalscoring form trained out of him when he was made a defensive winger by Mick.

Colchester is not a cash rich club and totally dependent upon the investment of one local individual who is Wages would be an issue but wherever any of our players go I wish them well in prolonging their careers.

Juggsy added 10:36 - May 5 Good luck to them - good servants to the club but during an awful period of decline which if you put into perspective was way beyond anything in their remit to rectify as the club was rotting from the top down. Not sure better offers will be there as their legs are gone in all 3 cases - can't believe anyone advocates keeping any of them on here.

On a sidenote, why is it that people are labelled as ‘haters' simply because you think it'll better all round if they weren't offered new terms. It's possible to wish them well, appreciate their commitment but still would like them to leave. It's just utterly lazy and pathetic to suggest that you hate someone because of it.

algarvefan added 10:49 - May 5 Wherever they end up, they have been good servants to the club, all three of them often played out of their preferred position to cover the squads lack of resources. It's easy to be critical on here, but I would never doubt for one moment their collective commitment and effort for the Town. Those of you on here rubbishing them, shame on you, you are not proper supporters.

They have been at the club a few years and very well paid as well, but that does not make them good servants. They have had a privileged time, and in all honesty who has come in for these players in the last few years who will offer better terms that we do / did. The lady who has worked in the office for 20+ years on a fraction of their wages can be considered a 'good servant'. I will still wish them luck in whatever they do and thank them for their efforts !!!

drewcudders1963 added 11:16 - May 5 3 loyal servants, Sears and Chambers often played out of position and Skuse value to the team often not recognised. Chambers in particular has been an excellent role model for the youngsters coming through and I suspect much of the good work undertaken by him and Skuse [and others] behind the scenes hasn't been reported as it's not "exciting" news. Good luck to all 3 of them in their future careers wherever that may be.

Sears whom i was pleased to see arrive, was spoiled by being played out of his best position, then bugged by injury, unfortunately, or he could possibly have lasted a bit longer. Its time for these players to move on and for ITFC to do the same. Good luck to them.

BeattiesBackPocket added 12:33 - May 5 Chambers has been a great servant to the club and bleeds blue but time for sentiment is gone as he has been the captain presiding over the decline of the team and to be honest the heart in the team. Rightly or wrongly this isn't just down to him it's years of underfunding in the team but we have to move on. As much as you can't question their commitment to the club their ability hasn't been flagging for 3 or 4 years not just since relegation. We need to move on and these need to go but with best wishes. Apathy is a reason we are where we are and it's time to move on.

chepstowblue added 13:10 - May 5 And by no means the worse three players at the club. Outstanding service and commitment to the club, which is something that the younger element will never grasp. The right time....yes probably, but whether we'll be better for their leaving is still very debatable.

istanblue added 13:16 - May 5 I remember going to a Col U game v Huddersfield when they were in League 1. Fans kept singing ''Ipswich reject'' to Alan Lee. Ironic that half their team is made up of 'Ipswich rejects' with seemingly more to come.
