Edwards MK Dons Talks Claim
Wednesday, 12th May 2021 11:17

Town winger Gwion Edwards is reported to have held talks with the MK Dons.

As reported on Monday, the Welshman is out of contract but with the Blues continuing discussions with the former Peterborough wideman regarding a new deal.

Now Football League World is reporting that Edwards, who was linked with Sunderland and Preston in April, has held talks with MK about potentially joining them this summer.

Edwards, 28, moved to Town from Posh for £700,000 in the summer of 2018. He has made 82 starts and 27 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring 14 times.

Meanwhile, Huddersfield are reported to be the frontrunners to sign ex-Blues striker Jordan Rhodes when he leaves Sheffield Wednesday this summer.

It’s reported that a deal which will see the 31-year-old return to the Terriers, another of his former clubs, is well advanced despite reported interest from the Blues and even a claim they have offered the Scotland international a contract.

His father Andy, Town’s one-time keeper-coach, is the striker’s agent and has been spotted at a number of recent Huddersfield matches, although he has also attended at least one recent Town game.

I guess it depends what sort of contract we're offering. If it's only an extra year you can't really blame him at 28 if he wants a bit more security than that. He also could end up a squad player here whereas I'd imagine he'd be a regular starter at MK Dons. I would probably prefer if we kept him, but I'm not too concerned if he left. As many have said he can look a real threat sometimes, but his inconsistency makes him more frustrating that anything else.

Last time I can remember a part-exchange was Matt Clarke going to Pompey as part of the Webster deal. That worked out well.... !

Let him go, was part of the big problem since he's been here. Not totally committed when on the pitch with his performances and attitude, like many others. He is one of the players who has the skill but not the desire to be a top professional. I am a bit disappointed that the cull hasn't been more brutal.

Not as good as he maybe thinks he is......let him go if the centre of his ambition is MK Dons then goodbye as we won't miss him...

Probably a negotiating tactic by his agent to squeeze some more money out of ITFC.

Started the season well, but spent most of the time covering his Full Back, which ultimately leads to a less forward thinking formation.
I personally would like us to sign him up, but as people have said, if we really wanted him then we should have signed him before now.
No one should blame him in trying to get himself a contract, as he needs to look after himself and his family...especially if ITFC have not offered anything concrete
Good luck in whatever you do Gwion

MK play a far more attractive front foot style of football than us so I can see why he'd be tempted. As with most players that we slate and can't wait to get rid of he'll probably reach the championship long before us !

Talented guy but no consistency however I think he'd do well with better players around him and if fit could hit double figures from wide or midfield he definitely has it in his locker.

I live amongst posh fans and they were unhappy he left but did say he was always injured? Nothings changed there?

Edwards is very inconsistent. Also misses quite a few games with niggling injuries. Time for him to move on.

Rhodes - no surprise.

Bishop misses more games than Edwards and is also very inconsistent it just depends on who your favourite is. Can't recollect any other club being interested in Bishop because of his injury problems.

Linkboy13, agree. Bishop can go too. Need players who can play 2 games per week if needed and always available.

Blows hot and cold, not consistent enough

It never ceases to amaze me how ignorant people on here are. We are still bound by FFP rules so we can't go out and spend £1m on a player plus £10k a week on wages whenever we fancy. He's worth keeping rather than throwing cash that restricts signings at a replacement.

Edwards has flattered to deceive. Shows glimpses of being an excellent player but can swing from the sublime to the ridiculous in a flash. Ultimately, he's not reliable enough for Cook.
