Wilson Joins Plymouth
Thursday, 20th May 2021 15:12

Released Blues central defender James Wilson has agreed to join fellow League One side Plymouth Argyle once his Town contract expires at the end of June.

Once-called Wales international Wilson, the Blues’ Player of the Year in 2020/21, was released by Town after two years at the end of the season.

Wilson, 32, made 47 starts and two sub appearances for Town, scoring twice, having joined on a free transfer following a trial in the summer of 2019 having left Lincoln.

The fans player of the season on here, for me our most reliable performer a good no nonsense centre half. I know we need to look ahead but there is next season first and I would have kept him in the squad for another year. Glad he has secured another club, smashing pro and I wish him all the best at Plymouth.

Not many players that I actually liked in our squad, but Wilson has been the better signing IMO in recent years, especially when there wasnt too much of a buzz when he joined. Solid defender and wish him all the best at Plymouth, he'll be a good player for them to stay in league 1 next season.
Shame we couldnt do a swap for Luke Jephcott!

Decent CB and person, never a stand out performer but a steady pro. Wish him well for the future.

Took him a while to get going but was solid enough - is that really good enough to have stuck around? To the points made by budgieplucker - not the level we need to get promoted and not the future for a Championship team (one challenge at a time, I know). There are others i'm underwhelmed with - Nsiala (always a penalty or red card risk) and Nolan (missing for huge parts of games) to name a couple, so it will be interesting how Cook handles some of the other names. Seems Wilson was easy to offload, hence he's gone.
