Blues Among Clubs Linked With King's Lynn Midfielder
Thursday, 17th Jun 2021 22:42

Town, Luton and Blackpool are reportedly battling for to sign King’s Lynn midfielder Sonny Carey.

According to The Sun, the trio are want to sign the 20-year-old with a £100,000 offer said to be enough to secure his services.

Plenty of other clubs, including AFC Bournemouth, are also claimed to have run the rule over Carey, who has a year left on his contract, during 2020/21. Bolton Wanderers and Swansea have previously been linked.

The Eastern Daily Press report that the Hatters have already had a £100,000 bid turned down and the Tangerines have a similar bid still on the table.

Carey, who plays on the right or in the centre, started his career with hometown club Norwich’s academy and joined the National League Linnets two years ago from Wroxham.

Having featured largely from the last season he became a regular in 2020/21, making 30 starts and 12 sub appearances, scoring five goals, including the winner in their FA Cup first-round victory at Port Vale in November.

I get it that, if he signs, he will be one for the future but, blimey, how many more midfielders do we need?

Rakeem Harper deal is all done & dusted but Due To WBA having no manager/CEO it can't be signed off. So town are most likely looking else where,

No nothing about this guy but let's give him a go see how he dose etc, maybe he turned out to be a great signing or a massive flop,

Linkboy13. Dont know if it means anything necessarily, but Harper has disappeared off the list of players on the WBA website in the past few?days. So dont think theres an issue there. More than likely just minor details being dealt with before hes announced.

I watch many isthmian league matches and believe me there are quite a few players as this level and above who are capable of being a force in league one. Many of last seasons team would come up short in those leagues as the games are quick and physical. If we now have a decent scouting system then this lad could be worth a go. If we still have the Hurst scouting system then forget it

@dolphinpie. Wake up and smell the coffee! There's no profit in constantly bemoaning our protracted fall from grace. We need now to look forward and not hark back. The sad fact is that we are where we are, but at least we now appear to have the ownership, desire and wherewithal to dig us out of the pit we have dug and hopefully rebuild toward former glories. Let's don our positive caps and get behind the club as it embraces on its epic task. COYB's!

I have to confess that after an initial flurry I was expecting a bit more excitement but no doubt next week will produce the goods as training starts on the 26th I think

GTRKing. Think ur right that the harper deal is done and dusted. But they certainly dont need a manager, or shouldnt think a CEO neither, to sign it off. The club secretary would do that. So not sure why it hasnt been announced yet. Would imagine theres some minor details being sorted out 1st.

Thanks for updating me on the Harper saga chaps. The silence coming out of Portman road this week has been deafening. As they say you only sing when your winning.

The 20 man squad is an issue for us this season. Most of our youngsters are now over 21 and we are stuck with a few players who are unlikely to feature much. We are currently on 17 so wouid need to ship out another 3 for us to bring the 6 signings we need - a second keeper, centre back, left back, left winger, centre mid and striker! Not going to be easy, but this lad could be the start and is under 21 too, so doesn't count to the 20 squad!

Looks like WBA WILL HAVE A MANAGER in the next few days if not sooner, so let us hope that the Harper deal would still go through ?

Obviously Kings Lynn will be looking to offload players after their relegation from the National League.

For, is Ipswich is local for a lad born in Norfolk. Against would a Norwich born player sign for Ipswich. Time will tell.
Concerned about lack of activity over the past week, when I expected the business on bringing in the players targeted to be done . But I recall the Mariner deal took what seems ages to complete

Norwich released him as a young player because he wouldn't always pass the ball when they thought he should, basically he was good enough to beat half the opposition and score on his own, so no loyalty to Norwich after the way they treated him
