Dobra Promoted to First-Team Pre-Season Training
Saturday, 26th Jun 2021 13:20

TWTD understands young forward Armando Dobra has been promoted to the first-team pre-season squad having initially been named among those set to be with the U23s.

As reported on Wednesday, Dobra was among a number of first-team players listed to start pre-season training with the U23s on Thursday, along with Flynn Downes, Kayden Jackson, Teddy Bishop, Myles Kenlock, Brett McGavin and Jack Lankester, who joined Cambridge United yesterday.

However, the lists indicated that the situation could change “at the manager’s discretion” and we understand Albania U21 international Dobra was subsequently added to the first-team group which began pre-season training earlier today.

Dobra was among the players told at the end of the season that they could find a new club this summer but while away on international duty last month stated his intention to win himself in the Blues’ first team when he returned to the club.

He's kissed the ring has he? Power BS not man management. About as genuine as cook's teeth

Great news. I was beginning to worry about the Cook approach, but this restores some faith. I get the major clear-out - it was needed; but it seems that Cook does recognise some talent among our current players after all. Hoping for a Dobra breakthrough next season, although with the new signings, he will have some competition for a place. C'mon Flynn Downes. Time to button down and become the player for ITFC we know you can be. Woolfy too.

Well Done Dobs
Most talented player at the club.

Amazing he came back to training so soon, as players on international duties
usually given additional hols.

And there you have it. Talent alone is not enough. These kids have the opportunity that so many long for yet they take it for granted. Attitude is almost as important as talent.

Good from Dobra, good man management from Cookie and good to see the comments above which reflect a genuine appreciation in what PC is trying to do. Dobra has come out and staked a claim publicly, its taken him less than 48 hours to get back in the top squad, and its absolutely what us fans have been asking for.

Beatiesbackpocket nailed it, you dont have to go but you can if you're not up for what I want. Absolutely spot on :)
Lets watch and wait to see if anyone else has the minerals and is prepared to stake a claim to stay.....

Good example, we can take it he's shown Cook that he has the desire and has his reward, let's see which other players follow suit, or don't...

Dobra has given P.C what he wanted(when he told players they could find another club) credit to you young man for doing your utmost to being involved it what now appears to be the end of the over paid underperforming comfy zone that I.T.F.C had become.

Monkey Blue, do you believe that the players for a few seasons have performed well enough? Cook has laid down the gauntlet, it is his way or the highway. Dobra has expressed his ambition to stay, others may have got used to the easy life.

I hope he's put on some timber. I remember being told to beef up over the summer. My mum was given a diet sheet that included porridge, steak and chips and suet puddings. I had so much energy, trained twice as hard and lost half-a-stone. End of fledgling pro career. Going to the gym was almost unheard of. In those days. I like Dobra and I hope he can go all the way in football.

The Test was set by a shrewd and confident Manager that will not accept shirkers - this is his way of sorting the MEN from the BOYS in terms of attitude and actually wanting to be at the Club.
If the others don't want to follow Dobra - then GO elsewhere - not exactly a string of high profile Clubs queuing up for you..... in view of recent moves !!
Some of our self opinionated ‘stars' are more ‘starry eyed' than ‘stars'.
REALITY, WAKE UP, and BUCK UP time to step up to the plate at last.
Not before time for our Club - for the Corn to be Earned !!

Showing the right attitude required to make it at senior level. Just cannot understand the lack of effort and commitment by most of the players at the club. A footballer's career is very short surely you've got to make the most of it. Perhaps Mr and Mrs Blue Monkey and Betty can explain it to me they seem to be the experts.

Cadiar, Hit the nail on the head, that's where he should be played just behind the striker, not out on the wing, likes to shoot from outside the box like Eric, would also get us free kicks in more dangerous areas when he turns people.

That's good. Potential to be a very good player.
