Blues and Oxford Linked With Dundee United Left-Back
Sunday, 11th Jul 2021 10:59

Town and Oxford are reportedly keen on Dundee United left-back Jamie Robson.

According to the Scottish Sun, the two League One clubs are chasing the 23-year-old, who is in contract until next summer.

Robson, who has been linked with Oxford for a number of weeks, was a youth player with Dundee and Rangers before moving on to Dundee United as a 12-year-old.

He made his senior debut for the Terrors in the Scottish League Cup in September 2015, then later that campaign the Perth-born full-back spent time on loan at Brechin, before becoming a regular for his parent club in 2016/17.

Robson has now made 160 starts and eight sub appearances for Dundee United, scoring twice.

Town have already signed one left-back this summer, Matt Penney, but are likely to be on the lookout for another with Stephen Ward having been released before joining Walsall on Friday and Myles Kenlock training with the U23s.

The Blues have been in discussions with Middlesbrough regarding a move for another left-back, Hayden Coulson, a potential deal which is understood to have made significant progress.

Looked fairly obvious from yesterday's general oversight that we needed additional strength added to the putative First team squad . The ‘second ‘ eleven did well without being as cohesive ,or nearly as physically equipped ,whist individuals showed some great skill, thought and determination ,but clearly need to bulk up to withstand League pressures and challenges .
Woolfenden looked a different player with greater strength ,confidence and added an assured air : plainly the options still open to PC will be vital .

Know nothing about him,. but seems to be rated north of the border. Would he be any better than Penney? I am sure Cook knows what he is doing. I hope we are still looking at a forward, think we need another one at least.

I dont know him.
I won't pretend like I'd know if it's a good signing or not.
But if his current fans really like him surely that's a good signing as per our signings so far.

Gives us options. We may end up playing 442, Penny could push up.

Reminds me of when Glen hoddle managed eng!and he pick 3 left backs because Mexico where a right wing country.

Dare I suggest that a right back may be more important if KVY is still on the treatment table. Donacien is an okay backup but he can never be a first choice if the club has ambition. See also Nsiala

Need a couple of Centre backs too

Couple of wingers and a left back plus a keeper would be nice and Reading Ashton interview he wants at least another 5.

Sound as if Cook knows what he want and Ashton is the man to get it for him

Exciting times

I wish he had more goals in his locker than 2 in 160. But sounds like a good prospect.
We need everyone to have goals in their game.
Neil Thompson was a great example- good solid left back, great corner taker and good free kicks or Mark Venus.
2 centre backs, 1 left back, 2 wingers and a another striker

agree Vanis, we need goals, and cant expect just a couple of front men to get them all, .

Listen to Ashton; 5 more player slots to fill, 4 options in each slot being explored.
The idea of ITFC having a plan, addressing squad weaknesses, and having the will/money to action that plan is I know a stretch for some....but come on!
Trust the process, give a nod to the links, and celebrate the signings when (not if) they come. COYB
