Warnock: Coulson Felt Thigh in Training
Friday, 23rd Jul 2021 22:48

Middlesbrough boss Neil Warnock says Blues target Hayden Coulson missed tonight’s friendly at Plymouth having “felt his thigh” in training earlier today.

TWTD reported on Wednesday that Town are closing in on the loan signing of the 23-year-old and given that situation the left-back’s absence from the squad which faced the Pilgrims at Home Park came as little surprise.

However, after the match Boro boss Warnock claimed Coulson had missed out due to a niggle.

“Coulson felt his thigh this morning in training and felt he couldn’t play,” he told Teesside Live.

“It’s a pity because he did well the other night [in the 7-0 win at Tavistock in which he scored twice] I thought.

“That’s one of those things. We lose Coulson and [Marc] Bola so we’re a little bit short in that area at the minute.”

Former Town target Matt Crooks, who completed his move from Rotherham earlier today, scored Boro’s opening goal in the 15th minute as they beat the Pilgrims 2-1 in the final game of their week training in the South-West.

Looks very fishy! Perhaps Jamie Robson might be a better choice under the circumstances.

Doesn't sound like a move is on the cards anytime soon!!!!

Also the Celina link has gone very quiet so guess we are likely to be pipped again by a Championship or Dutch Erdivise club.

The business we have done is terrific so far so whilst no need to panic we need to keep our fingers crossed the likes Lee Evans or Rekeem Harper don't get injured in the next 2-3 weeks.

The only way you can tell if Warnock is lying is to see if his lips are moving.

Trust the process. We have options being exploited in each position. Would have been happy with this as a permanent if we believe he is that good, but as a loan, you have to wonder if better quality loan players may be avaliable as the window draws to a close.

When I saw the headline I was hoping it wasn't his own thigh.

Warnock seems to be saying he cant be spared now. Lets hope this is sorted one way or the other soon, we need to get players in and settled.

@budapestbyblimp If he did that at Town he'd be training with the under 23s. Has anyone else noticed how much Cook looks like Caspar the Ghost?

The reporting here & the local paper recently has been spot on. If a player is about to be sold or loaned out its not usually to take them on a pre season trip. I expect this one isn't going to happen. This is one of the reasons the club says they are looking for several players ,some in a similar playing position

Felt his thigh my ar8e

He'll be signed, he's been left out so he doesn't jeopardise his move

Not so sure this will happen anymore - seems to be dragging on too long.

Personally I think central defence is a higher priority now. We can't start a new season with just Toto and Woolfie. We're not even being linked with anyone! Should never of got rid of Wilson imho.

Ringwoodblue, I actually prefer it when we just sign players out of the blue - once the media get a sniff things tend to go pear shaped?

IMHO the whole new setup is doing a great job behind the scenes quietly going about the business and its been the two mangers with the biggest gobs that have spoilt things

I loathe Colin, he lies as often as he breathes but he might be telling the truth? If so it seems he wants a left back in at least before he'd let Coulson go. Look at it this way, if he's not playing he can't keep impressing Colin.

BuzzyBlue…. I honestly don't think Warne “spoilt” anything. They wanted 7 figures and we offered nowhere near that and if given the choice between a league higher, higher wages, possibly not having to move house, and potentially 12 months away from the premiership….. who would you choose as the player? From the sounds of it Boro are paying at least double what we offered. Even if we'd matched the bid we can't match the other stuff at the moment. As for Colin? We are talking about a loan move for a player who might be back up left back so calm down.

He was definitely at Saltash Uniteds ground where they were training earlier that day, it's where my gym is. So he's still in the camp with them.

Unfortunately I reckon Warnock isn't lying.

Is it me or has anyone else noticed that whenever a transaction involves money coming into our club things go smoothly. When it's the other way round, they don't!
