Blues and Wigan Linked With Palace Defender
Sunday, 22nd Aug 2021 09:26

Town and Wigan are being linked with a loan move for Crystal Palace centre-half Jaroslaw Jach.

According to The Sun on Sunday, the 27-year-old is a loan target of both the Blues and Latics.

Twice-capped former Poland international Jach joined the Eagles in 2018 but has made only one League Cup appearance for the South Londoners, spending his time on loan at Caykur Rizespor in Turkey, Sheriff Tiraspol in Moldova, back in Poland with Rakow Czestochowa twice and Dutch side Fortuna Sittard.

Prior to joining Palace, the 6ft 4in tall centre-half had been with Lechia Dzierzoniow and Zaglebie Lubin in his home country.

Having signed George Edmundson from Rangers and Cameron Burgess from Accrington this summer and with Luke Woolfenden and Toto Nsiala remaining from last season’s squad, the Blues moving for another centre-half would be a surprise.

WHAT ? Starting to look like another Lambert shore up job ,if there's any truth in this !
Plainly there's much to do with shaping our side into a strong unit ,but that's down to PC and his coaches getting both to the nub of the challenges , getting every one of the players fit and committed ,and enjoying co- ordinated constructive football .
Do hope we shall refrain from yet more recruitment and show some winning form soon !

We need a Defensive midfielder please

It all smacks of desperation now. 6 weeks ago a solid central defensive pairing should have been in place for the start of the season. "We'll score more than the opposition" was the general consensus. The problem is....we're not. And one point from the next two games leaves us with no leeway and will almost write us off. After the horse has bolted springs to mind.

Bring him in and send Wolf on loan

We have three loans at the moment which I think are enough. Agree with Arnie, we need back up for Evans and Harper in the centre of midfield if there are any more signings

Unless Edmundson and Toto injuries are worse than reported, I see no point in bringing in a loan to play above four of our players. In fact, we have three loans already - which is more than enough.

If we are looking at more defenders I think the right back situation needs addressing.

I know it's early days but KVY looks half the player he was before his injuries.

We are conceding too many goals, we need more competition for places in defence. We need to find that rock solid centre half pairing which organises and keeps clean sheets.

When we can keep 4 clean sheets in a row, then we can start saying we don't need more defenders.

His cv doesn't look too impressive, but you never know he might be better than toto or even wolf, we do at the moment have problems at the back too many goals against weak teams , so "might not be a bad idea "

Burgess, Edmundson yes, woolfenden Nsiala struggle so Janoi is our only quality back up and he backs up KVY when he's not replacing him.
We need another one, but shipping one of the also ranks off and a purchase would make more sense to me

The owners have gone very quiet.

Could be the replacement at last for Nsiala!

Maybe I was wrong but I thought James Wilson was a terrific, solid centre half, we always did better when he played, the fans player of the year, I will never understand why he was one of the first shipped out.

Anyway like most others I don't think we need another centre half now but a defensive midfielder who can get stuck in and spray a pass.

Wolfenden seems more of a problem than Nsiala at the moment. Yes, do realise that Toto is injured. Just mean generally.

Seriously ? A player with zero League Experience .
Our present CHs would look much better with some decent defensive midfield cover , and not setting up the opposition as Evans did yesterday!

I cannot accept that we are dropping points because of our defence. The setup is wrong and the midfield are giving no support to the defeheres a huge gap and nobody is picking up second balls other than the opponent. Harper and Evans need to work as a pair with one dropping when the othe presses. I suggest maybe PC speaks to MK Dons management as they were well drilled. Those questioning Woolfenden yesterday were clearly not at the match. He was our best defender by a long long way.. Burgess will be a backup player imo as he's not great with his feet which was abundantly clear in the warmup. Big lad who wins headers end of,

Chris R. No he hasn't played for palace in the lge. But hes clearly played league football somewhere or wouldnt have been capped twice by Poland. So must have something about him. Tho like others do think there are other priorities. We actually arent conceding goals bcse the defence are playing badly. Its individuals making errors, and not always defenders neither.

Algarvefan. I agree that Wilson was a solid defender. Think the issue with him was that he spent more time injured than on the pitch, and cb not a position u can afford to have some1 out that amount of time.

How many signings have we actually made that were the subject of press speculation? None to my knowledge. Nothing to see here!

Why does everybody down vote anyone who dares to question anything. blind optimism never gets you anywhere

Agree with everyone who says this is probably press speculation but if it is genuine there is probably a good reason. The law of averages says only about 50% of signing are really successful in the long run but at least we have signed players with some sort of re-sale value. Like everyone, I'm impatient for the ‘gel' to happen (google Tuckman's model of group development, if you've never heard of it) but the performances are certainly a step up from the last few years.

Also agree with everyone who says player coaching also vital. Midfielders need to be able to defend as well as attack, even this this day and age. That means get stuck in, cover, tackle (and be the beast you say are, Harper). KVY needs to be coached on how to be a FB rather than a wing-back (or buy a RB and move him to RM). Also agree PC could use a savvy no. 2 for in-game tactical tweaks. Highly unlikely to be a promotion year, but you never know. Small, CONTINUOS, incremental steps forward and continued exciting and entertaining football will keep 99% of us happy (especially when the budgies are being stuffed like turkeys)
