Johnson: Thank You For One of the Most Memorable Experiences of My Life
Sunday, 24th Oct 2021 13:48

Blues co-owner Brett Johnson says his whistle-stop trip to Portman Road has been one of the most memorable experiences of his life and he can’t wait to return with the rest of the Gamechanger 20 group.

Johnson flew over to the UK on Friday with his wife to make his first visit to the club since the takeover in April.

The 51-year-old, one of the Three Lions along with Berke Bakay and Mark Detmer, met the players and staff at Playford Road on Friday morning, spoke with reporters, including TWTD’s Phil Ham, in the afternoon before watching his first live Town game on Saturday.

Johnson’s delight at Bersant Celina’s last-gasp winner was very evident with his reaction having gone viral among Blues supporters.

“The mask can’t hide the smile on my face for the entire flight home,” Johnson wrote on Twitter.

“Thank you to all at Ipswich Town for making my visit to Portman Road and beyond one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

“Can’t wait to return with the entire GC20, so they can meet the family as well.”

Johnson said on Friday that he and his fellow Three Lions, plus Ed Schwartz from ORG, the investment firm which manages funds on behalf of Arizona's Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS), and Mark Steed, the chief investment officer of the PSPRS, will be over for a game before Christmas with the home fixture against Sunderland on Saturday 18th December a leading candidate.

For goodness sake blues one what a horrible over the top comment. Are people not entitled to be sceptical???!! It's an American pension fund investing for potential reward. Things seem rosy now but they did in the early Evans days he brought in a big name manager with promotion on his cv and inv by a USA ested. The Americans have been as good as there word so far and good on them but you should not be calling everyone who worries given our recent history a Norwich fan or an idiot. The bottom line is that it is a bit un nerving to be owned by a USA pension fund. I hope it works out

Bluearmy81, stop being so funny i nearly choked with laughter.

But I agree, some of our so called fans are laughable. Ive been talking to a guy over the weekend who insists Bonne needs Pigott next to him and we should playing target man football. He obviously lives in the last century, has no conception that our whole squad was recruited to function in a 4231 formation, despite the fact that it is working brilliantly with Bonne doing a wonderful job of occupying the centre-backs alone as we bomb down both wings. Refuses to accept that it is working on the basis we are the division's top scorers, refuses to acknowledge he lacks the credentials to dismiss Paul cook because he doesnt have coaching qualifications, thinks Cook is an idiot because he wont tell us who is and isnt playing 24 hours in advance and therefore hand our teamsheet to the opposition, accuses me of insults because I believed in the managers opinion (which he then said was my own) and then openly suggested he would be proved right if we struggled at Plymouth and Wycombe. (WTF?). I did suggest that Ipswich fans understand Cooks formation and collectively were getting fed up explaining why he was using it, and then suggested he get his head out of his own ar*e but by then i was getting fed up of explaining the reality that he openly hates Cook and therefore black was white and vice versa.

Can you and I chat instead ? I think we both get the club is in great hands and we are firmly on the right track with this new system and new squad :)

Perhaps they are cheering Walton grabbing a cross/corner - given Americans play football with their hands.

Only joking of course. Great to see him there and also a lot of Town legends around him. This is what our club is all about.
