Town U23s manager Kieron Dyer has been admitted to hospital where he is undergoing tests, the club has revealed.

A club statement reads: “The club can confirm that Town U23 manager Kieron Dyer is currently undertaking tests in hospital.

“Everyone at Ipswich Town Football Club sends their best wishes to Kieron at this time.

“We ask everyone to respect Kieron’s privacy, and we will be making no further comment on the matter.”

Dyer, 42, came through the youth system at Town before moving on to play for Newcastle, West Ham, QPR, Middlesbrough and England.

grumpyoldman added 19:50 - Oct 27 Monkey Blue, have you thought that the reason the club made the announcement, was if somebody heard something through the grapevine that KD was missing from his duties & was in hospital people would start to speculate. By releasing the statement and asking for privacy they have covered the matter succinctly. I hope he recovers soon.

armchaircritic59 added 20:03 - Oct 27 Saw Kieron doing some of the punditry on the Newcastle/Tottenham game a couple of weeks ago. Didn't look well to me then, yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes to some degree. Something i've been familiar with. All the best Kieron and get well soon.
