Town Draw Arsenal U21s in Papa John's Trophy
Saturday, 13th Nov 2021 14:36

Town have drawn Arsenal’s U21s at Portman Road in the round of 32 of the Papa John’s Trophy.

The game looks set to be played on Wednesday 1st December with the Blues in League One action against Crewe on the preceding Sunday.

Town, who topped their first-round group after West Ham’s U21s were docked three points for fielding an ineligible player, faced the Gunners youngsters in the group stage last season with the Londoners side winning 2-1.

That should be a good game. Arsenal have real talent in their youth teams, so a proper test for us. Bring it on.

We must be in with a strong chance of the Final looking at all the other teams...

It's a shame to draw an U21 team. The spirit of the cup is ruined by their inclusion.

Another joke game in this formerly great and now demeaned cup. Urge all Town fans to boycott this farce - it's not only the reason why these brand clubs are hoarding their young players and not allowing them out on loan but it is just the first steps to get B-teams playing in Leagues One and Two.

B*gger off and form your Superleague please! You won't be missed.

It is a Mickey Mouse cup; alleviated only in the later stages when hopefully the Prem hoarders have all been ousted. Other posters on here are right in that it is a the thin end of a wedge leading to B teams. It is the inclusion of those teams that also prop up the Category 1 status that is also now a closed shop. I would not miss the top six from the Prem - it might just bring back opportutinites for all clubs - not just those with pots of money.
