Nsiala Issues Apology For Misunderstanding
Wednesday, 8th Dec 2021 14:26

Centre-half Toto Nsiala has issued a statement following last night’s game at Charlton, apologising for for what he felt was a misunderstanding which led to a confrontation with some supporters following the final whistle.

After the Blues’ 2-0 defeat had been confirmed, Nsiala became involved in a heated exchange with fans at the front of the Jimmy Seed Stand. Christian Walton sought to act as peacemaker before being shoved away by a supporter, who was subsequently dragged away by stewards as police moved the two Town players away from the incident.

Nsiala, 29, said in a statement issued via the club website: “Following last night’s game, I would like to applaud and thank the supporters for travelling in their thousands and paying their hard earned cash, especially at this time of year. "

“All of the lads and I fully appreciate the time and effort of the fans who support us up and down the country.

“Frustrations were high and I completely understand why, as that performance was not good enough.

“My intention was to acknowledge the supporters and tell them that we are doing all we can to put things right but unfortunately this did not come across how I intended.

“I apologise for the misunderstanding. I know the fans deserve more and I’ll be giving everything to deliver the performances and results that we can all be proud of.”

You're part of the problem Toto way short of the standard expected at this low level. I hope Town get another good centre back in Jan as you may try but lack the ability to ensure edmundson has a correct partnership

Very stupid 'fan' pushing Walton.

Toto, words are cheap. We did not see anyone rolling up their sleeves last night and saying "lets have it then Charlton"?

How many first balls did we win? how well did we press Charlton when they had the ball?

If that really is your best, then you are not good enough for this football club, go down the road to Colchester.

You lot have just got a very good manager sacked, and that is how you perform straight after, it is not good enough.

I don't know what will get you lot going, maybe you need cold water pouring on top of you before the match starts? Maybe you need a few people to come and slap you in the face, I don't know, but you just don't look up for it.

really not sure Toto is the one who needs to be apologizing for the incident; apologize by all means on behalf of the team for the performance, but he didn't deserve what happened

The guy who pushed Walton looked like a grown man and not the child/teenager/young adult you'd expect to see doing something like that. Crazy to see such high emotions over a football game. Some need to grow up

Storm in a teacup. Fans are rightly frustrated. Toto rightly feels maligned as he's given his all. At least there's still some passion in the club, now to channel it in the right direction.

Over to you "gamechanger".

TopMan Toto, it takes balls to apologise and the idiot that ran on to shove Walton needs to apologise as well. I was there last night passions were running high all through the game from Town fans it was as bad a performance as I can remember and I've seen a few in supporting Town over 56 years! as I said passions were high on the terraces just a shame the players don't show the same passion for the club or badge. It's going to be one of the most important Manager appointments in the Town's history, I hope and pray they get the right man as it will take someone with guts and determination to turn around the shower who wore the town shirt last night, Walton excluded!

Sorry Toto no excuse for a complete lack of effort from the players that should come as standard and has got nothing to do with tactics or stupid formations.

Who was the fat fool who ran 30 yards to bottle Nsiala and try and give it the big one to our man of the match?

Irrespective of whether Toto had a good game, he did not, he is a really nice guy and loves the club so he gets my vote for the apology. There are others who show no such respect to the fans and just take the money.

No one deserves the abuse those fans were giving. Utterly embarrassing.

This is not a good period for our club at all. Not sure sacking PC without at least having someone lined up was the best idea. The response Toto made today was good and fair, but I actually would have expected something from his captain to come out as well. The first question the new manager should do, is ask each player if they want to be at ITFC or not, because now PC has gone it seems some don't. This has not been a good week at all. Sad times again.

Wonder what those fans would do if they'd had a bad day at work and a throng of blokes came up to them, looking physically threatening and started screaming in their face. I get that people are frustrated but no-one deserves what Toto faced.

Toto's a bigger man than the braindead morons who confronted him. The sing when your winning brigade who like to think that 'we support the Ipswich, if we're down or if we're up'. What a joke they are. They aren't keen on 'happy clappers' who applaud their team because it's their duty (happy or not), but are keen to give celebrity status and label some degenerate a 'legend' because he attacks his own players in the name of passion.Twisted logic for twisted people!! Appalling performance on the pitch. No credit to anyone other than Walton. Edwards and Morsy are massively disappointing. They came with reputations....I'm not sure how. Maybe time to look over our shoulders at Crewe, Fleetwood etc and make sure we don't get embroiled in a relegation battle. Thankfully we're still in the cup. That's about all that's left this season.

We didn't play well and lost. It happens. Whole team were substandard, when you notice the keeper it shows he wasn't well protected. I don't see any benefit attacking the younger players.

Toto is a top, top guy and it's a mark of his integrity that he felt the need to apologise to the fans . However , this Club has a very small element of utter scum that follows this Club. They raise their ugly disgusting heads from time to time and bring this Club into disrepute through their actions . It's about time these individuals were outed by those who know them and that they are banned for life .

Toto, you're a top man and a good professional. You have my backing son . You do your level best and that's all that can be asked .

im no fan of Toto as a player, but respect to him for coming out and saying what he has, hopefully it can be put to bed now and we dont have to witness anything like that again . Now lets see the players in a huddle and coming out giving it everything ,restore some sanity and pride . COYB

There appears that some players on last nights performance are not happy because their easy going mate is no longer manager, they need to knuckle down and work for the club that pays them very well and expects better but i feel there are several that will want out of it now, if that's the case good riddance we need players fit to wear the shirt and a lot of you were under performing even when your mate was here.

There were a lot of very drunk people there last night. We didn't see the incident but weren't surprised it had happened. Feelings may be running high but everyone should be treated with the respect and decency that ITFC has always been known for.

Linkboy13. I dont actually think there was a lack of effort last night. Just think that once we went a goal down their heads dropped and they couldn't get going again. Whatever any fans opinion was on Cook, he was the reason most of those players signed. So for him to be sacked 4 months on must have been a shock and a massive disappointment for them. And with it only being 3 days prior I think some leeway should have been given them by the fans. Of course the performance was dire, but it was something I'd predicted could happen in the circumstances. Unfortunately there's a faction of our fans who just want to boo and moan at every misplaced pass, which really doesnt help the team to perform. Understand them being booed at the final whistle, after that performance, though I wouldn't myself. But for heavens sake, let's at least try to get behind them during the game. Be the so said 12th man. As for those involved in this incident, ban them all, they're not true fans. Really dont believe toto needed to apologise but respect to him all the same, that he chose to do so.
