McKenna On Walton: We Hope Something Can Be Done
Thursday, 6th Jan 2022 14:51

Town boss Kieran McKenna has confirmed that the Blues are working on recruiting goalkeeper Christian Walton on a permanent basis.

The 26-year-old is on a season-long loan but with parent club Brighton weighing-up whether to recall him in order to sell him with his contract up in the summer.

Walton has been hugely impressive since signing on loan in August and Town are working on securing the Wadebridge-born glovesman full-time.

“I think that’s something the club are working on,” McKenna said when asked about the situation.

“I’m not involved in those negotiations and discussions on the frontline, but Christian has been fantastic for the club, he’s had a really good season.

“He’s a really top goalkeeper and still got the potential to improve, is still a really good age for a goalkeeper and we feel like he can go again and over the next few years can bring his game to another level and really still develop himself further.

“So, he’s a player that we really like and he’s a player that we’d like to be here. The club are discussing it at the moment with Brighton and Christian himself, and we hope that something can be done there.”

Sounds promising for and good to be kept in the loop!
Unlike in the past when we would have no idea what was going on at the club.

Has this been run through the recruitment department yet? be a show of the yanks commitment if Ashton gets this over the line. Not had a decent keeper since Bart was with us says something when Bart was player of the year at least 2 seasons. Keeping everything crossed for Walton to join.

Getting Walton and Bonne tied up would be great business. Not worried about Coulson, he came with an injury record and that's still hampering him. Celina is a flair player, great when things are going your way, absent when they're not. I'd focus on what we have to be honest, there were thoughts he'd tear up League One and he's been fine but nothing more. Maybe McKenna can get some consistent presence and magic out of him?

Well, if Paul Cook is right, its because we don't have a "recruitment room" (whatever that is!).
What sort of a club doesn't have a recruitment room, Mr Cook, eh?
That will get him signed up!
