Covid Passes No Longer Required For Entry to Portman Road
Tuesday, 1st Feb 2022 11:42

Town have confirmed that Covid passes will no longer be required when entering Portman Road, however, the club continues to recommend that fans take lateral flow tests prior to matches and follow public health guidance.

A statement on the club site reads: “Following the Government's easing of Covid-19 Plan B restrictions, and in line with the latest guidance, the club can confirm Covid passes will no longer be required as a condition of entry to Portman Road.

“The club continues to encourage fans to follow public health guidance when attending matches, including wearing face coverings when indoors or in crowded areas, maintaining good hand hygiene and not attending if you've recently tested positive for Covid-19 or displaying symptoms.

“The club encourages supporters to take a lateral flow test before departing for Portman Road, and will continue to have a lateral flow testing centre in Alderman Park, which is opposite the Magnus Group West Stand turnstiles, for supporters who wish to take a test before entering Portman Road.

“We would like to thank our supporters for their continued support and co-operation throughout the 2021/22 season.”

Great news. There was very little benefit in holding out against the Covid pass for so long only to implement it for such a short time.

@europablue the club has been one of the only clubs in English football to adhere to negative COVID test/COVID pass to ensure attendance as soon as it was right to do so

finally some common sense. Covid passports don't work, they never should have been introduced in the first place. Divisive, Draconian and unscientifically proven. You've only got to look at France to see that they're utterly pointless. If you don't feel well don't go, it's that simple. I take it this also means the mask rule (that barely anyone stuck to anyway) is also now removed?

MaySixth I wasn't clear, I meant the government held out for so long on having a covid pass when EU countries had them for months. The British government then implemented them at the same time as the talk of vaccine mandates when the pandemic was basically over.

@Europablue "when the pandemic was basically over" – dangerous thinking there.

The end of this nonsense couldn't come soon enough. It was all medical optics to make the club look like they were doing something.

You didn't have to take a LFT to get into the ground anyway (ahem...so I'm told).

Handing over personal medical information to some minimum wage drone was, and is, never going to happen for me.
The vaccine doesn't stop transmission. Not my words, the words of Pfizer who never claimed it did. Vaccine passports are just a way to try and force people to get it an be able to do what they want to do (aka be free). Those implementing them admit that.
That it ever happened at all at Town, is a disgrace, and history will judge those , like ITFC, who were "just following orders" harshly.
