Aberdeen Yet to Make an Approach For Hladky
Wednesday, 13th Apr 2022 10:25

Town have received no contact from Aberdeen regarding keeper Vaclav Hladky, TWTD understands.

Last night, a report in Scotland linked the Dons with a move for the Czech keeper, however, the Scottish Premiership side are yet to make an approach to the Blues.

Aberdeen boss Jim Godwin was Hladky’s manager at St Mirren during the 2019/20 season and it wouldn’t be a surprise if he were to make a move for his former player in the close season.

Hladky joined Town from Salford last summer but having started the season as the Blues’ number one has spent most of the campaign on the bench since the arrival of Christian Walton, initially on loan from Brighton before signing a permanent deal in January.

The 31-year-old, who is contracted until the summer of 2024, has made only 14 appearances for Town, the most recent in Kieran McKenna’s first game in charge, the 1-0 victory over Wycombe in December.

Given his lack of opportunities, it would be little shock if Hladky were to move on this summer with Walton firmly established as the number one.

If Hayes is coming good it would not be a surprise for Him to move on along with Holy and direct any wage towards key areas such as left back and striker. I am sure the schoolteacher will be considering this and he seems to rate Gilmartin which is key.

We signed him for a fee and with the intention of being number 1 this season so I would imagine he would be a decent wage to get off the books in the summer. We only need a decent back up as nobody will dislodge Walton.

Not sure Hayes is anywhere near ready so to lose hladky wouldn't be a good thing for us. Whilst walton will obviously be number1, if he gets a bad injury, then we need cover. And with holy almost certainly on his way, if hladky goes then we'd def need to sign another keeper. We'll need 2, other than walton, on our books at least, capable of playing, if required.

Walton is under contract but everyone has a price and the performances of him, Wolfy, Edmundsen, Burns, Caroll 😊 will not have gone unnoticed.
Need to prepare for that

I suspect if you are Hladky a move would appeal and I'd prefer a proven back
Up or a younger keeper( early 20's) close to challenging. We did pay I'm led
To believe £500k for him but possibly less so I would assume we'd want a chunk of that back
