Tranmere and Orient Eyeing El Mizouni
Wednesday, 25th May 2022 15:48

TWTD understands League Two Tranmere Rovers and Leyton Orient are among the clubs keen on Blues midfielder Idris El Mizouni.

The once-capped Tunisia international appears likely to leave Town this summer, either on a permanent or loan basis, with first-team opportunities having been limited at Portman Road.

The 21-year-old made only seven starts and two sub appearances during 2021/22, scoring once.

We understand Tranmere and Orient are two of the sides eyeing Paris-born El Mizouni, who is contracted to Town until the summer of 2024 with the club having an option for a further season.

Cambridge United could also show interest with the Paris-born schemer having spent two spells on loan at the Abbey Stadium. He also had a stint on loan at Grimsby the second half of 2020/21.

In total, El Mizouni, who joined the Town academy at 16, has made 16 starts and nine sub appearances, scoring two goals.

Not really shown enough to warrant a first team place. Really rated him as a youngster he had the ability to go past players but has never showed that at senior level and has developed into a work horse type of player.

Linkboy - not sure if you watched Sheff Wed away but he drifted past 3/4 players with ease that game. Seems to have added a little more physicality to his game over the past 2/3 years.

I'm hoping it's a loan as he's still a player with real potential. Just needs games.

Again I think some on here want the kids to play just because they came through the academy. He's 21 now and when I've seen him he's looked ok that's it and look at the clubs interested in him. I hope he comes back after the summer and really gives it a go but if he doesn't at what point do the fans who want every academy kid to be in the first team say ‘maybe he's had enough time maybe hasn't realised that potential he had'

Agreed! He ain't shown enough to warrant a regular starting place

A player who looked like he was gonna make it. But like many before him hasn't quite made the final step up. Has done ok, but never quite shown he has enough to get ahead of others. Would maybe, be a good squad player, but perhaps a new start elsewhere would be the best for all parties. Whether he stays or goes tho, wish him all the best.

I like El Mizouni and I personally don't feel he's been given enough senior time . It galls me a little that we might dispense with him yet bring in Bakinson, who is probably no better. El Mizouni is only 21/22, I think we should be keeping him , he's our player, Bakinson, isn't.

Has never let us down when called upon, but probably time to leave to get regular 1st team football.

I hate to admit it as I had high hopes for El Miz, but this last season each time I have seen him in the line-up my heart has just sunk a little, as it shows that we are short of first choice players. He just hasn't matched up to the first choice players, and we hope each time that he can "do a job" for 90 minutes or however long he's on the pitch. In summary, he just isn't quite the quality we need to push on to bigger and better things. Best of luck Idris, hope you find somewhere you can make a real impact.

I keep forgetting about El Miz. That may tell me all I need to know. But i've always been impressed when I've seen him and interest from league2 clubs only seems a little insulting. Surely better than that?!

I agree never gave a run of games I would like him to go on a years loan before we give up on him for trivial money

Seemed to have had a spell suffering from injuries as well last season and during his previous loan spells. Very talented young player but needs to prove his fitness, was our man of the match at Gillingham in the Pizza cup. Still worth holding onto and a loan to prove his fitness and that he can stand up to the rigours of a long English season should determine if we keep after the end of next season, but would certainly not jettison him yet unless the opportunity to use him as part of a deal for a more established operator.

I don't think he's close to being as good as Bakinson, and i'm not sure even he willl be here again next year. KM will want players with Championship quality and PL potential. Yes we are in L1 but if L2 clubs are targeting our players, doesn't that say everything about their limited potential?

He was Dominated at Barrow and although looked Ok at Sheff Wed- they sat in and we did not create - shows some nice touches but would need a tank alongside him to be effective.
He needs games but I am not sure I am charitable enough to want to watch him 'train up'

The fact it's two League 2 clubs interested in him should tell people all they need to know.

Those saying he is better than Bakinson are obviously watching through the rose tinted spectacles many see our Academy products through, he isn't!

Always makes me laugh when a player who's not good enough needs a run of games according to some people on here. McKenna obviously thinks he's not good enough and just because he comes out of the academy he's not going to get preferential treatment.

We really cant faff about this season, we need a strong team , a team that can play for 90,and a team that is up to what is required, we have to get the best players we can in , not retain players that may [or may not] come good one day. It may seem harsh , but its a tough sport and we need to aim high .El Miz isnt a bad player, but equally isnt good enough at this level imo .
