John-Jules: Ipswich Style of Play Suits Me
Wednesday, 22nd Jun 2022 18:44

New signing Tyreece John-Jules says Town’s style of play was a big factor in his decision to move to Portman Road.

The 21-year-old has joined the Blues on loan for the season from parent club Arsenal.

“It’s been a busy day, but I’m excited to get started here and meet the lads,” John-Jules told iFollow Ipswich.

“I had a meeting with the manager [Kieran McKenna] and people around me only had positive things to say about the club.

“The way that Ipswich play suits me. The style of play was an important decision for me as a loan player.

“I’ve played in League One before so hopefully I’ll get used to it quickly and score some goals for the team.

“Last season was one of my worst with the injury but I’m hoping I’ll bounce back this season. I’m back fit now and ready to get going.”

I'm surprised that that any forward thinks 5 at the back protected by 2 DMs suits them. Let's see if he's right as defo not enough goals last season. I'm starting to see now why Chaplin wasn't given much if a go by McKenna

Good luck to all the new signings and those to come. The gaffa seems to be building a team in his own image as opposed to what he inherited. Goals are of a premium and this guy certainly looks like if he can stay fit and with a run of games could do the business.

Calm down billericayblue, this sites not all about YOU, others are allowed their opinions whether you agree or not.
Didn't we go 5/6 games without scoring, how many goals did we score last 10 games of season is the point Bossman is trying to make I think, if you stop and think for a second he's probably got one too!

Thanks Tim. We do play 5 at the back with 2 DMs and we don't score many goals. Just possibly the 2 are connected. Some people on hear are already building a statute for McKenna to sit alongside Bobby and Alf and it's a bit embarrassing really as he finished 11th. Let's all see what next season brings and hopefully that will be promotion.

@BossMan: Whilst it's a fact that we fell short at the end of last season, there's no way you can call Burns a defender! He's a very effective, attacking wing back. I truly hope we can get a left side clone, and then we will have the attacking formation that McK is aiming for - especially with Morsey pushed forward as was the case in the last few games.

I love the idea of one Tyreece in )who wants to play for us) and one out (who clearly doesn't). Hopefully he's more Ian Wright than JET!!

I'm terms of formation, we didn't really play 5 at the back. If you look at average positions they took up Thompson was full back, not particularly atttacking. Edmundson and Woolfy were genuine centre backs with some license to wander forward. Donacien actually played more like full back or even a wing back at times and Burns was somewhere between a wing back and an out an out winger. It wasn't the 5 at the back or two banks of 4 (8 at the back) we were often up against. We did create chances against them but didn't put them away, different strike force and same playing style would suit me fine. I think I heard a stat that we missed more ‘big chances' than anyone else at the end of the season.

You've got to remember that KMc has probably watched him plenty of times when youth team coach at Man u and seen a very good player and has also had someone watch him previous seasons and his ability on the ball to get us moving up the pitch will a clever ball and not once did KMc complain about inheriting other managers players which all managers do so credit to him for that but now he is bringing in his own players to fit his style of play I think as a manager he has one of the biggest insights in to young players in all leagues than an experienced manager would have

Describing the way we play as "5 at the back with 2 DMs" is disingenuous in the extreme. You do your arguement little good with that kind of nonsense.

At Arsenal there's no kind of atmosphere. Tyreece on loan he's our guest. Let's get promoted far away from here, fun fun fun in Div 1, 1, 1.
