Town Rebuff Simpson Offers
Monday, 4th Jul 2022 10:10

TWTD understands Town have rebuffed a number of offers for striker Tyreece Simpson this summer.

Towards the end of last season, the 20-year-old, who scored 11 goals during a successful loan spell at Swindon in the first half of 2021/22, told the Blues he wanted to move on this summer having turned down the offer of a new contract in January.

Town have taken up a one-year option on his previous contract in order to secure a fee which is likely to be higher than the training compensation they would otherwise have received.

TWTD reported in April that Luton, Peterborough and Barnsley had all shown interest, while Middlesbrough and Huddersfield were subsequently linked.

We understand a number of those clubs have approached the Blues but up to now no one has matched Town’s valuation which is believed around £600,000.

Meanwhile, TWTD has learned that the Blues spoke to Fulham regarding the loan signing of striker Jay Stansfield last month.

The 19-year-old England U18 and U20 international, who is also being targeted by other League One sides, was under serious consideration, however, the Blues eventually opted to sign Tyreece John-Jules on loan from Arsenal.

Clearly someone is trying to manipulate him into a move whilst having a hand on/in his wallet. TS very much has time on his side and if he fights for a place here and scores a few his value and wages will increase. I hope that he mans up, shows some loyalty, and fights for a place here.....

I am not sure why he would want to leave this club which I think at long last is going somewhere------think it is all down to a poor agen filling his head with strange ideas afer a good few months at Swindon-------I seem to recall a flash London agent ruined Richard Wrights career a few years ago so beware Ty!!!

Nikemuhrenthissen. How is it bad man management? By the rules, he had to be recalled from Swindon, as cant be o loan when negotiating a new contract. Having rejected that, he then asked tk leave. So the club have done all they can. Dont care who the player is, I don't want anyone here who doesn't want to be here. Especially not a bang average player such as Simpson. Dont totally blame him for the situation as he's obviously listened to his bellend of an agent. When will agents learn, advising players to leave just bcse they can get more money elsewhere, which can onlycassumecthos is about, isnt always the best thing for account players career. Ask the likes of Richard Wright, who yes, earnt plenty of money, but spent the majority of the rest of his career sitting on the bench. Had he stayed a bit longer, who knows where his career may have gone.

@blues1…. Pretty sure you can sign a new contract whilst on loan. He was called back to try and force the issue. The club should have played him in the games after play-offs were out of the question. This would have perhaps encouraged him to stay, raised the asking price if he'd played well or even lessened his options and got him to sign if he'd not played so well. We had nothing to lose and everything to gain by playing him over the likes of Norwood or Bonne who were not going to change their fate at that point.
