This just depresses me, it almost feels like it's not worth paying attention to our youngsters until they get in the side. It also makes me wonder if we did well selling off our prospects rather than let them rot with us.

Not surprised by this, he had a real opportunity last season on loan at Colchester and (as has been the case throughout his time with us) lacked consistency.

Shame, I always thought he brought something to the party when he came on as a sub, injecting some pace and enthusiasm.

Maybe needed to work on his end product and certainly had a temper on him, but think this might be one we learn to regret.

PC must have sent him on loan to Colchester to get some gametime, which presumably didn't work out due to their relegation battle, but must still think highly of him

I understand the decision, but hope the new 'pathway' for our youth delivers as well as ITFC failed with Armando. George Burley is still one of the most successful managers in our Country's history in bringing young players through....not just at ITFC. He would give young players a run of games in their preferred position in an attempt (presumably) to get a feeling for and a foothold in the first team. We must do better as even those who are not sad to see Dobra leave must recognized there is a player in there and we got nowhere near exploring, let alone exploiting, his potential. Hope he finds some love under Cook and shows his worth.

PS: if the new 'Pathway' does not work we could do worse than lean on George's experience in this area; can't believe he would turn down the chance of helping his local Club who he loves so much.

No where near good enough for League 1 and probably not league 2 either.

‘. Mutual consent ‘ means there was a very certain meeting of minds ! KM knows potential when he sees it , has committed to a planned pathway forward , has shown - with Luke - he will encourage and develop,and MA is unlikely to allow a body to fester ,nor miss the chance for a fee .
Let's wish AD well ,but hope he will buckle down produce consistency and for himself develop the maturity to ensure he has the sort of future as a professional his potential deserves .

Very much upset about this but also a bad choice of next club unless cook has also persuaded Richardson to leave Wigan and become his assistant. Lots of talent so I hope I'm wrong

Hasn't got a good enough all round game to make it at league level one trick pony. Hope he does well at National league level and learns.

We have Humphreys Wolfenden and Baggot in out squad, 3 academy players, i think that's a great representation bearing in mind the ratios of those who make it and those who don't

Good for him, clearly wants to get out there and earn himself a career. Has bags of potential and I won't be at all surprised if he climbs his way back up to at least this level.

Hope your right SouperJim just a pity he has not managed to push on as 2 or 3 years ago looked a great prospect .

Like many I am sad to see Dobs go and hopefully he will rebuild his career elsewhere and realise his full potential as a skilful little footballer.

The big however though is that this is the correct decision for Ipswich Town football club, Dobs has had his chances and he hasn't been consistent enough to get a regular place on the bench here or even a start in League 2. I expect several good youngsters to be released in due course as the bar has been raised at this football club to the standard we need to propel the club forward. That doesn't mean to say people myself included who follow the u23's and u18's who may develop favourites should get a hissy fit. Look how many youngsters the top flight clubs release who join lower league clubs still end up not succeeding. It needs to be an extra special youngster now a days to break the mould, a, Bishop or Dozzell are still struggling to make a significant impact based on the very special talents they have, Downes probably a less talented footballer skill wise but a much more robust, combatative player might just now make the step up to Palace and premiership. Developing the academy is still the right thing to do but we have to develop a Kieron Dyer, Darren Bent, Kevin Beattie, Terry Butcher or John Wark who can really show by their late teens that you cannot afford to leave them out of your team or alternatively someone is going to pay big money for them. We haven't had too many of those types of players for a long time. Just one every year or two would still make the academy very worthwhile. This is a big challenge for the club going forward.

League one is physical, any one team can't afford too many slight/light weight players. Chaplin is so good he deserves his place in our side but there is no room for many more. That's why Lapado, Ball and Greg have come in, all big, strong physical players.

I wish him well but Chesterfield ffs?? Anywhere but there would've been a better choice.

Disappointed by this. I left the ground at Burton last season thinking...'Barry looks like a little lost schoolboy out there, Dobra looks a live wire'. Cook then proceeded to hardly play him. What happened at Colchester, who knows?! Ironic that Cook should now be interested. I'd have no hesitation in saying that ability wise he's way too good for league1 let alone the national league. As with Downes possibly making the prem this is another football mystery which makes no sense to me.

Shame about this one always thought he look good when he played but never really made a difference and felt he needed some playing time, which he should have got at Colchester.

If you look at the players who are coming through I think he is way behind them and our midfield is awash with players,Humphrey Walker Harper look better bets.

If KM thought he had what it takes he would have kept him, plus if KM said your game time will be limited this season AD might have said I want game time for his international career.

What do I know. Very little in fact as I was a great advocate of Dobra but he does not appear to have moved on. Disappointed he is going to Cooks Chesterfield but I wish him well. Something about him but hope he climbs back up the Leagues. Good luck to him.

Good move for him and an opportunity to press on with his career. Didn't get a kick for Colchester after January last season, and as others state, he isn't currently good enough to force his way into our team.

Chepstowblue. Too good for lge1? Couldn't even get into a struggling lge2 team 2nd half of last season. Yes, they had 6 loan players, but if he was good enough im sure he'd have got picked ahead of one of them at some point. Sorry but bcse he looks exciting when he's on the ball fans love him. But what does he actually do? Very little. Doesn't score, doesn't assist. It may be a good level for him to get his career on track, and I wish him all the best for the future. But too good for lge1right now?. Not a chance
