Dobra Leaves Town and Set to Join Chesterfield
Monday, 4th Jul 2022 13:19

Forward Armando Dobra has left Town by mutual consent, the club has confirmed, and is set to join Paul Cook’s Chesterfield today, we understand.

TWTD understands Dobra has agreed a two-year deal with the National League Spireites.

The 21-year-old spent last season out on loan at Colchester - without featuring after January - returned to the club at the end of the campaign and hasn’t been involved with the Blues’ first team during this pre-season.

Dobra, who had another year left on his contract, had been linked with the Spireites for a number of weeks while we understand league clubs including Exeter City and Morecambe have also shown interest this summer.

The Albania U21 international will join another former Blue at the Technique Stadium, left-back Bailey Clements having signed earlier in the summer following his Town release.

Dobra, who joined the club as an U15, made 16 starts and 14 sub appearances for the first team, scoring twice.

On deadline day in January 2020, TWTD revealed that the Blues had turned down a number of offers from Premier League Brighton for the London-born attacker, the highest £350,000.

good luck Dobs, a bit of a nearly man so far , but young enough to still come good. I think he has a good attitude and can be a lively player, just hasnt hit the level we need to date .

Just to add further to my post, whilst some of these young players look really good to the eye in spells they have to prove that they are not all froth and no substance. I will be eagerly watching Kyle Edwards this season unless he is loaned out, both the West Brom lads came with a lot of exciting promise but have failed to fulfil that in real stats like assists or goals or important blocks and tackles. Harper struggled to impress Crewe fans when on loan and granted Kyle had an injury that kept him out for a long while but look at Keenan Bennetts we had on loan from a top German club a couple of seasons ago, often used to drop his shoulder and took off sending signals of excitement to the crowd but pretty much always failing to deliver when it mattered.

Chepstowblue you've seen one game I've seen many others where he did very little. I have a mate who's a season ticket holder and col utd and Sao he did very little there and couldn't even command a regular spot there in league two struggling side so to say he's too good for league one is farcical and completely shows up your football knowledge.
Personally I'd love every kid especially dobs after his initial burst on the scene to come through but past few years the best China was sold way before it got to the under 23 squad even and even those guys have still to prove more. Our kids haven't been good enough. We are still introducing them into the side but if they don't kick on or can't even do well on loan in league two or national league sides then what hope do they have in league one or higher.
