Pigott Pompey Loan Move Close to Being Confirmed
Monday, 11th Jul 2022 16:17

TWTD understands Town striker Joe Pigott’s loan move to Portsmouth is close to being confirmed.

News that Pompey were targeting the 28-year-old emerged earlier today and we understand a loan deal with an option to buy is well down the line and set to go through in the next few days.

Pigott joined Town on a free transfer after leaving AFC Wimbledon last summer but made little impact in his first season with the Blues and it had been expected that the Maidstone-born frontman would move on this summer despite having two years left on his contract.

Town have already added Freddie Ladapo to their squad during the close season with a bid for Leicester’s former Portsmouth loanee frontman George Hirst understood to have been turned down.

Pigott scored three times in 14 starts and 15 sub appearances in all competitions during 2021/22.

No guarantees when you have a overhaul like we have and needed. Good luck to Joe, maybe it's not the end of the story

Hi i live in Maidstone and watched him play in the National League for Maidstone, he played off another striker(Zavon Hines or Jamar Loza both small and quick) so imo one up front will never work, also good at direct free kicks. Lower level i grant you.
He will leave and its a shame reminds me of Kieffer Moore what happened to him.... tongue in cheek!

I think this is the best solution to the Pigott situation but if he does get loaned out we must get a 20+ goal striker in as Jackson and JJ are not proven leaving us with only Ladapo and what if one of those three get injured?

Robsonwark. So bcse theyre professional they don't have the same emotions as anyone else? Unless theyre macauley bonne that is. Whos poor form was defended by fans such as urself due to his family issues. But piggott lost his dad but hes just crap. Well, if he gets pompey promoted with his goals maybe those slagging him off will realise they need to give players a chance. Look what happened with will keane? If wed kept him wed quite possibly have been promoted last season. And yes they train, but that doesn't give them match fitness or match sharpness, or confidence. That only comes with a run of games. I dont know if he'd have been any better this year, or even been given the chance to be, but I'd rather him have been here to find out, than playing for a rival and possibly costing us promotion by scoring a hatful of goals . Only hope this means tho that we have some1 lined up to sign. Bcse, with only ladapo and Jackson here now, we could be in trouble if either of them struggles.

He was a good player till Paul Cook got hold of him------I think there is a goalscorer in there and he could come back and lead our charge up the championship.

Cue the down marks - but, we have a history of not playing players to ‘their strengths' and then slagged off - How about Will Keane as a most recent example ??
