No Surprise Sereni Return Tuesday, 3rd Dec 2002 00:49 Reports indicate that Town keeper Matteo Sereni will, as expected, keep to the one-year loan deal with Brescia agreed over the summer and won't be returning to Portman Road. Sereni moved to Italy in the close season with Town unable to afford his £22,000-a-week wage and the state of the transfer market meaning that finding a buyer was impossible. Contrary to newspaper speculation, financial considerations meant that a return was virtually impossible. Sereni suffered a hip injury in July in a road accident and finally made his first appearance for Brescia at the weekend, his club losing 4-0 to Internazionale. Letting in four goals against Vieri and his team-mates was not an unfamilar experience for the ex-Samdporia keeper. The loan deal could lead to a permanent transfer if all goes well over the rest of the season.
