Hladky Rejects Banik Move Sunday, 14th Jul 2024 13:04 Former Town keeper Vaclav Hladky is reported to have rejected the chance to join Banik Ostrava back in home country Czechia.
The 33-year-old left the Blues at the start of the month having been unable to agree terms on a new contract.
Since then, the former St Mirren and Salford man has been linked with Banik and Slavia Prague, whose number one Jindrich Stanek is out long term having suffered an injury in the Euros game against Türkiye.
Now, according to iSport.cz, the free agent has turned down the chance to join Banik.

Silly man should have signed the deal offered here.

We needed better, so probably didn't want to be a No.2 here. I get it at his age, but financially would have made sense for him. Hope he gets a good club, I liked him.

Should have signed here. He was always only ever going to be number 2 in the PL at Ipswich but not such a bad situation to be in. Wonder where he will end up?

I think we where probably not keen and wanted to move on anyway so our offer was low, at his age he needs a biggish deal as it could be his last chance for big money?

I think he wanted guaranteed first choice and though he did good, saved quite a few points, he did fill u with fear that a clanner was on the cards against a switched on team. Although all the best he did us proud when it counted

You can't help but wonder if he is being poorly advised! He has just walked away from Premier League football. The man has lost all common sense sadly.

Why is everyone saying should have signed here. Let's respect his ambition and wish to play. He wouldn't have. Got this here next season. Fair play and good luck to him with all our thanks.

Love how many know it alls there are here. Fair play to VH wanting to get the best deal for him as he looks for first team football. Nothing but fond memories of him here.

Odd that he was no2 before and only no1 once he got a look in. Fair play to him he took his chance, no reason to think he couldn't do it again. Would love to know what really happened here.

Let’s hope he finds a good club as he deserves the opportunity to be 1st choice keeper somewhere after his massive contribution to Town last year and also considering his age. He decided to leave us and we must respect his decision

Some of the comments on here are really odd. No1 knows whether hed have played here or not, had he stayed. Yes, everyone will have their own opinion on that. But no real reason to suggest he wouldn't. It's not as if keeping in the pl is that different to keeping in the championship. Certainly not the difference there is for outfield players. As Arnie M states, he wanted a 3 year deal, which is understandable at his age. But the club were only offering 2. Again, understandable on their part.

Well for me everything in the Premier is a big step up in class goalkeeping included .

He cost us away to Norwich, decent guy, decent season, but not good enough moving forward

Great season last year but only got chance because of Waltons injury in my opinion would always be no2 in long term think KMK thought the same and this is probably why he never signed new contract. Now in PL is Walton guaranteed no1 or do we sign 2 GKs with Walton no3 because Walton and Slicker going nowhere until until KMK has his plans sorted

I love all this 'would have been number 2' stuff. If you believe in yourself and your ability and you like where you are, stay and fight!! He had a season as number 2 and then took his chance when it arrived and his performances warranted his number 1 status last season. I will never understand footballers as long as I live, if you want something, fight for it!!!

I for what it is worth think that he's after a Scottish premiership team as a no/1 if he gets it all the best to him he's free to go as he didn't get the deal he(or his agent) wanted here.
Tractor_Boy_in_HK added 06:22 - Jul 15
He'll end up back at his level, lower level Scottish Premier League. If that option dries up, it may be short term deal in Czech Republic, League 1 or on the bench in the Championship. He really did overplay his hand with us.

Yes thanks and good luck to him . Don't think there's much doubt as we seem to be paying around 10 mill for a new keeper if we wanted to keep him we would have done .

There not into Banik buys. Dosent seem that many clubs interested in a ball playing goalkeeper who can't catch.
