Johnno Logan Sign On!

Both David Johnson and Richard Logan have signed four year deals with Town. Blues' fans will be most pleased to see Johnno put pen to paper as his relationship with the club has not always been as smooth as it might have been. When Town sold Alex Mathie and Danny Sonner in quick succession it was Johnson who stood up and accused the club of having no ambition. Now the striker sees things very differently: "I’m pleased to be signing a new four year contract. The Club has strong ambition and this is demonstrated by its return to the Premier League”. Manager George Burley said of the Jamaican born player: "We are very pleased David has signed a new 4 year contract. He has been our leading goalscorer for the last 3 seasons and at the age of 23, he will just keep on improving and show he is capable of scoring goals in Premiership." Logan is one of a number of promising youngsters hoping to make an impression on the first team this season. Burley said of Logan: "Richard is a youn!

g striker with great potential. I’m very pleased he has committed another 4 years to the Club. He has played for England U18 and has the potential to win U21 international honours”.

Town are set to play their first match of their pre-season tour this evening when they meet Finnish side VPS Vaasa. The Finns, are having a tricky season and should be easy for Town to overcome, despite a number of injuries. Already without Mark Venus and Richard Naylor, both recovering from operations, Town will also have to cope without Tony Mowbray (minor knee problem) and John McGreal (sore foot). That opens the way for Titus Bramble to make his first appearance in the senior team since the season before last.

Family Night Football returns to Portman Road this season with reserve games reverting to their 7 pm kick-off time. Season ticket holders will once again get in for free. Portman Plus and Blues Crew members will get a £1 discount to prices which range from £5 for adults to £3 for children and concessions.

The link in some quarters suggesting Town interest in Jason Euell of Wimbledon has been denied.

Jonathan Barnett is featured in the papers again this morning, although he says little new on the Richard Wright situation. He merely reiterated his view that agents perform a vital role for their clients. Barnett, who also represents Matt Holland, Titus Bramble, Muzzy Izzet, Carl Cort and cricketers Wasim Akram, Waqar Jounis and Brian Lara, continued to claim he is doing the best for Wright and that the view of supporters matters little to him.
