Veno Eyeing Comeback

Veteran defender Mark Venus is eyeing a comeback in around four weeks time as he continues his recovery from a knee operation. The central defender picked up a problem with torn cartilage at the back of the knee towards the end of 2002.

The former Wolves man told the club site: "It has been very frustrating for me, a nightmare at times.

"I had a few problems early on and then damaged my knee against Rotherham, which has put me out of action since.

"I was having treatment but couldn't get it right and it was getting very painful in the end so I had to see a specialist.

"He discovered that I had torn the cartilage at the back of the knee. It had worn away and he's trimmed it all up and we've gone on from there."

Venus remains Town's only long-term injury problem with John McGreal returning to action in the reserves against Arsenal last Wednesday.
