The counterpoint being that some believe he should be gone and will seize upon any such article that they believe emphasises their beliefs, such as this.

Is it not possible that people can just agree to disagree? Then we won't have to keep having the same arguments every time something like this occurs, because frankly it's getting very boring.

At the ITFC PLC AGM last year he launched into a very disparaging discourse about Norwich City, probably to deflect from the issues we were having on the field at the time and believing he was getting the shareholders onside. It wasn't reported here or in the EADT, for obvious reasons, it was in a forum which wasn't public unlike this and no doubt those journalists didn't want to rock the boat.
It is yet another example of his unsuitability to be running our club as Chief Executive and Chairman. The owners need to do something quickly - hopefully this will wake them up.

Why are people still going on about Reform? They are the most popular party in the country. If you want to say the club should not be political at all thats fair enough but have they really crossed a red line? After reading into it the visit was about VAR.

He seems not to have sung any anti Delia words so should not face any sanctions. He made a mistake over the farage issue. He did not verbally make a statement of support for Nigel Farage. To me he has been a brilliant CEO. He has presided over the regeneration of the team including four promotions in four seasons if you include the ladies. He appointment of a brilliant manager with whom he has a healthy close working relationship, Provided organisation and structure to the club. He has communicated effectively with the fans (remember Marcus Evans) Our community work is nothing short of awesome. We now have Cat A academy a training ground to be proud of. And with planning for a new Cobbold stand we'll underway we could have a ground that holds 40,000 spectators. When was the last time we had a chairwan out there celebrating with the fans.This doesn't happen by magic. He seems totally driven and dedicated. He is not perfect, he faces a level of scrutiny and pressure that most of us don't. With everything he has achieved he deserves respect and be cut some slack. Ashton out??? No he deserves forgiveness for when he gets it wrong and our wholehearted support for revitalising our beloved football club.

This man holds a responsible position where his visibility can only increase. He needs to grow up and start making mature judgements. Just because poor behaviour has been tolerated in the past, it doesn't mean it should continue.

The pearl clutching amongst some the people on here these days is unreal.

We want the people who run our club to have the highest possible professional standards, there's nothing wrong with demanding that and it's not pearl clutching. People who don't care what the Chairman and Chief Executive does obviously have no standards of their own.

I'm just puzzled how you know MA falls short on a number of levels that aren't even apparent yet. Seems to be a contradiction of terms there. I don't know about you but I'll be extremely glad to hear the last of all this. It's like going onto a party political site ( not that I ever do, or would ) and seeing half the talk is about football!

VILJOEN67 very well said, it's a real shame so many on here seem to be doom merchants for Ashton conveniently forgetting all of the things you rightly highlight. The man has done a quite remarkable job of getting us to where we are now, and it's important to recognise that.

What we are doing, armchair, is having to continue to question the integrity of the Chairman/Chief Executive, something we have never had to do in the history of our club. We could sweep it all under the carpet and concentrate on the football but it's more important than that.

Hello Carberry. I think it's because Mark Ashton has been much more proactive, visible and open to scrutiny. Our chairmen have largely been in the background mainly ineffective treading water.it just doesn't work in today's media age. What would we make of John Cobbold today. He certainly would have been deemed politically incorect. Besides he was three sheets to the wind most of the time. Not sure how that would fit in with todays highest professional standards

If we are going to compete in the Premier league with the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth, Sunderland we need to upgrade our CEO his dealings with players contracts and recruitment have not been acceptable.

Because it is so much more transparent and open to scrutiny, Viljoen, he needs to be extra mindful of his actions and what he says. Unfortunately I think his character gets in the way of that.

I just don’t care. He/they know the game and its wider foibles. Football either is or is not a tribal game and there is way way worse sung in the terraces and shouted at players and officials… pot/kettle, stones and glasshouses all spring to mind.
