Fans Asked to Vote on Mural Designs
Thursday, 14th May 2026 15:52

Town fans are being invited to vote for a mural for the wooden hoardings surrounding the Portman Road car park.

In January, the club and All About Ipswich invited artists and designers to make submissions for the proposed mural.

Those designs have been reviewed and reduced to a shortlist of three by the Fan Advisory Board with members and season ticket holders now asked to vote on their favourite on the club website while fuller versions can also be viewed here. Voting closes at midday on Thursday 21st May.

The winning design will be installed ahead of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.

#3 is the only one with any artistic merit.

Don’t want to sound disrespectful or insulting to the 3 designers/artists but if these are the final shortlist, heaven knows what those works which didn’t make this list were like.

I imagine the cost involved in this particular project will not be small and the chosen work will be expected to adorn the area for a number of years.

Personally I think there have been far better designs on a number of match day programs this past season. Is it to late for a re-think.

They all look terrible, literally back to the drawing board.

Sorry, but all of them are awful.

Nothing against the Ashton one either, and 'Grow our own' seems an absolute 'Karen'

Just dont like any of them, but if i had to chose i would vote #1.
Surely we can come up with better murals?

The themes seem to be:

The Town of Ipswich
Legends of the football club
ITFC Fans

Lets be clear. Ashton is none of these. And some one who lacks the moral compass and courage should not be celebrated in any of these themes.

He lied to you, the players and used the club for his own ends. And tried to cover it up. Ashton out.

Has to be 3. Most artistic and looks like Ashton is in it. Even if he isn't its nice to think that it could be him after all the success he has brought to the club.

Why is there no Roy Keane, Paul Hurst, Paul Jewell, Mick McCarthy, or Paul Cook on number 2?

Number 1 for me. Recognises the town getting behind the team.

I'd like a mural with Nigel Havers in it

3 is genuinely artistic. But there are so many scenes in it that it could appear rather cramped up?

As to the Ashton haters. Frankly I’m surprised to see you on here as I thought you would still be crying over Farage’s electoral success in Ipswich and Suffolk. Ashton iN. Haters OUT

@PhuketPete, I was talking about Ashton, not local politics.

3 for me as well although I suspect 2 might get the nod

Can't say I'm a massive fan of any of them really.

They are each a bit toss and dull for different reasons.

What happened to the artists whose fabulous ideas were on the programme covers when we were last in the Premier League? They produced thought provoking, clever and well executed work. These are in poor contrast and wouldn't land a C in GCSE art.

Perhaps I'm missing the point and the intention is to be an ironic qualitative representation of the time in which the mural is created (although not for the football club, one hopes).
