Mehmeti in Albania Squad
Thursday, 28th May 2026 09:39

Town forward Anis Mehmeti has been named in the Albania squad for their friendlies against Israel and Luxembourg next month.

The Albanians host the Israelis on Wednesday 3rd June and the Luxembourgers on Saturday 6th June with both games in Tirana.

In March, Mehmeti, 25, became the first Blues player to win a senior cap with Albania when he came on as a half-time sub in a 1-0 friendly defeat to Ukraine in Valencia.

The former Bristol City man won his fourth full cap in that game and his first since 2023.

Looked real quality when he first joined with his vision and creativity but then went off the boil by holding onto the ball far too long and getting caught in possession. A player with Premier league quality but probably not the physicality has to get back to basics and keep his game simple.

Linkboy13 - I agree. Reading the interview with him not long after he joined, he does focus relentlessly on his own improvement so have to hope he can get up to speed with the Prem quickly.

Totally agree, Linkboy.
My son's were saying what a difference he will make when he arrived, skilful and get things moving upfield much more quickly. I was impressed the first few games but then it fizzled out completely.
I still feel Burns was the only right sided player that made an impact on our performances....so I log in here every day hoping to read some good news for next season. Fingers crossed MA and co are making inroads on a host of new recruits that will be able to hit the ground running!

Seems we are all singing from the same hymn sheet here. Holds on to the ball too long, and is slightly built. Still relatively young, but If I'm honest I most certainly have doubts he's cut out for the PL. Though he's not the only one by a long chalk I'd say that about here. I'd love to be proved wrong.

Meanwhile he can go and play another couple of pointless football matches, just what he needs I expect.
