Blues 'Make Emersonn Bid'

Town are reported to have made a bid for Toulouse striker Emersonn.

Yesterday, TWTD confirmed the Blues’ interest in the 21-year-old, reports earlier in the week having linked the former Brazil U16 international, who had previously been the subject of a rebuffed £17.3 million bid from Hull City.

The Tigers are reported to have made a new £22.3 million offer for Emersonn but, according to Sky Sports, the Blues have made a rival bid.

Emersonn, who is 6ft 1in tall, started his career with Athletico Paranaense in his home country before moving on to Turkish side Göztepe in January 2025.

That spell led to his move to his current club in Ligue 1 on deadline day last summer for around €3 million (£2.6 million) and last season he scored seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions, picking up three assists.

Town are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks this summer ahead of their return to the Premier League, targeting both experienced players such as departing West Ham frontman Callum Wilson, who is understood to be in talks with Brentford, and more youthful targets such as Emersonn.

prebbs007, he played limited minutes, and his underlying stats seem strong. xG/90 of 0.2, but goals/90 of 0.72. Suggests he takes his chances, even the tough ones. Traditionally we create loads of chances, but our weakness has been conversion by the attackers. Bringing our chances created together with a natural finisher could be very interesting. And we’re going to to need to take chances next season, as we’ll created less than last season.

He's a physical pacy player who played on the wing before adjusting to a 9. Has a huge development potential and his xG last season was 7.6 and he scored 6 + 2 assists. As a young player many appearances were part games and his stats adjusted to minutes played are much better. Scouts look at potential and growth, in this case his physical presence, movement and development. Could be a very savvy acquisition.

How can he be worth upwards of £22 million? Just one season in France and only seven goals. I get that he's only 21 and that he could still improve a lot over the next few years but that doesn't justify a £22 million fee. If we're spending that sort of money we need a striker who is ready for the PL now, not on a player who might develop into a PL player in a few years time!

Woodbridgian added 18:11 - Jul 4 For those questioning how a player goes from being with £3m to £22m the answer is simple it’s called buying talent developing it and making big sell on profits its what team like Brighton have been doing for years. It’s also key to our strategy hopefully in the future and hopefully next time we’d of bought him a year ago.

We signed Omari huchinson on the 30th of June 2024 but he was already with us. We signed Ben Johnson on the 1st of July and Greaves on the 12 of July. It takes time to sign better players than what we have especially with a World Cup going on and with the potential of better options (maybe not Hull) but just everyone be patient. At least we are trying to buy an actual striker finally.

And with regards to what Woodbrigian has said: we certainly need to be buying low and selling high, like Ashton said we would. He lied, look at Szmodics (when he hopefully goes) and Muric and Delap (“we are well protected with him”). Mcateer was way too much. Nathan Ake has gone to Fenerbache for £7million for Christs sake. I would like us to do business much better than we have.
