Town Agree Emersonn Fee

Town have agreed a deal with Toulouse for Brazilian striker Emersonn.

TWTD confirmed over the weekend that the Blues were interested in the 21-year-old, who had been linked earlier in the week.

Yesterday, it was reported that Town had lodged a bid and that offer has now been accepted with the player now travelling to Portman Road for a medical and to complete the formalities on his switch.

Sky Sports reports that the deal is a €28 million (£24 million) - a new record fee for the Blues - plus €3 million (£2.6 million) in add-ons and a sell-on clause.

Former Brazil U15 international Emersonn, who is 6ft 1in tall, started his career with Athletico Paranaense in his home country before moving on to Turkish side Göztepe in January 2025.

That spell led to his move to his current club in Ligue 1 on deadline day last summer for around €3 million (£2.6 million) and last season he scored seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions, picking up three assists.

In May, Emersonn - full name Emersonn Correia da Silva - came off the bench to score in a 2-1 defeat to new Blues manager Gary O’Neil’s Strasbourg.

Emersonn, who was recently the subject of a rebuffed bid from Hull City, will become the first Brazilian to play for Town if the move is confirmed.

Elsewhere, another Blues target, West Ham’s Callum Wilson, is reported to be close to joining Brentford on a one-year deal.

A big fee, a young player with potential for a club still developing for the Premier league. There's a lot to like about this. Building a squad with some good young talent, prefer that to journeyman has-beens.

boysof1981 added 23:17 - Jul 6 If that fee is correct it does seem mighty high, considering Toulouse bought him for £2.6 million. They’ve made one hell of a profit, and let’s hope the opening day is the first time we see a Brazilian score for Town.

When I posted on the other story about this spotential signing yesterday I introduced this goal against Strasbourg because it indicates this may be a "GON" sourced signing rather than a recruitment team sourced signing. That is important for two reasons. Firstly it is notworthy that despite Ashton stating that a number of potential signings were well down the line it could be a GON signing that gets over the line first. That might imply Ashton had over stated the position on other signings (which looks to me to be the case). Secondly if the journalists ask the right questions we might be able to segregate the GON signings from the recruitment team signings to compare and contrast the success of each. Hopefully all signings become club legends but it might be helpful if any prove to be duds to make sure that the right people get the relevant scrutiny as a result.

blues1, I remember watching Salah at Fiorentina, before Liverpool. He was decent but just half the player he became. He was 23 at the time. I'm not saying this guy is going to turn into a Mo Salah play alike, but players can improve markedly if given the chance and the right sort of coaching. He's only 21, let's all wait and see, before rushing to any judgement, good or bad.

Very exciting! Young and huge potentially clearly so his goalscoring record is sort of irrelevant.... 9 goals for someone his age at a midtable 1st tier club is hardly a bad return....

Also, how can someone say delap isn't good enough and it get 10 likes. Was i dreaming or delusional last time we were in the premier league. Just watch his goals back ffs....

Not the finished article by any means but he was phenomenal at times. There was a point where you were going to PR knowing he was going to score. When did we last have a striker like that??? Also gave his absolute all for the shirt and is still young. Afraid some people are to influenced by what 15 year old Chelsea fans say on social media at times.

If we get this guy plus delap, that's great business at CF. You couldn't really ask for more.

That said, they are very similar style it seems and I think a more experienced, poacher type striker would be better (in addition to this guy). Shame to lose out on Wilson, clearly not up for the fight.

SpiritOfJohn added 07:23 - Jul 7 I wasn't overly excited by his goalscoring exploits, but after watching the video it looks like he is strong and quick and able to bring other players into the game. Also, looks like he can play up top on his own and cause problems. Could be exactly what we need. Estou animado!

Not too worried about his stats. He’s 21, so I’m sure he has plenty of room to improve. We need to be in the player flipping business. Buy and then sell for a large profit a couple of years later. That’s how the mid table teams survive in the prem. Brighton are actually in credit over the last ten years and I think Everton are about break even. Even the likes of Brentford and Bournemouth average about £20m a season spend vs sales. Similar to what Wolves did and they were in the prem for 7 seasons consecutive.

Sad that everyone here fixated on Delap, had half a decent season and struggled at Chelsea, pretty sure he's Everton bound..... Im pleased with Emersonn, just the type of young hungry developing player we need.

breezy_runner added 09:37 - Jul 7 Christ on a bike there are some moaning folks on here. This signing excites me, Brazilian, only 21 and looks quite a handful. Delap was hardly prolific when we signed him and he turned out alright. Im not sure who some realistically think we will sign?? Maybe R9 in his prime!
