Town Make Fatawu Approach Thursday, 16th Jul 2026 18:39 Town are understood to have made an approach to Leicester City for Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu.
Blues supporters will be familiar with the 22-year-old from the goal he scored from inside his own half against Town at the King Power Stadium in December.
Fatawu is set to leave the Foxes following their relegation to League One and, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, the Blues have made an approach.
West Ham, Coventry and Besiktas were previously linked with the 32-times-capped Ghana international, who made four sub appearances at the World Cup finals.
Having been with Steadfast and Dreams (loan) in his home country early in his career, left-footed right winger Fatawu joined Sporting Lisbon in 2022.
A loan at Leicester followed in 2023/24 before an option to make that move permanent for an initial £8.5 million was taken that summer, the player signing a five-year deal.

I really like this player. Whether a winger is a priority …. Maybe not. Unless JP is off? Either way this fits our profile and would in my opinion be a good signing.

Good player. physical, scored some good goals for Leicester, has played in the prem before. That’ll do for me

Always rated him, would be a great signing. His goal against us,from the half way line was unbelievable. Definitely an upgrade on our current right wing options.

Yes please. Although that would then be Fatawu, Burns, McAteer, Sindre and Ogbene !!

Like this, but it add s questions about Ogbone, Walle Egele and Burns. Suspect Ogbone is off, no idea where we play Sindre....

We do need a right sided winger but we have 900 already and just signed Burns on again.., our recruitment is really bizarre these last two years. We need a complete rethink, because this is painful to watch. The blind leading the blind…, if we still need a right sided forward (and we do) after spending £50 million to replace Burns, then keep Burns and sign someone else…, its like watching a blind man, trying to find a black cat, in a dark room, that doesn’t exist. Others do world class talent on nobodies radar, they’re so well scouted, we panic and give one man sole control of the club. You’d think 22 points was a clue. But no, here we go again. Years to plan for this window, and any 10 year old in any school playground could do the same job!!! .., Wilson and this .., SO lazy, SO not elite - this is barely top EFL levels of recruitment. And to the happy clappers. We won’t be playing Oxford, in the EFL this would be a good signing, against the clubs we’re NOW competing against it’s poor. We’re in the Premier League - can someone nudge Ashton and remind him!!! Sunderland had signed Xhaka at this stage, Leeds Dom Calvert Lewin - HALO signings and a message of intent for the rest of their hugely successful windows. What message are WE sending to potential signings!? We expect to be back in league one soon - but we’ll have a great EFL squad!!! No wonder we can’t attract top talent, and even okay off winners CAN. ASHTON OUT Sigh.

Undoubtedly has talent and at 22 has a good bit of improvement in him for sure. His stats from last season at Leicester in the Championship only read, Playing time: Mins, 3723 or roughly the equivalent of 41 full 90 minute games. Goals : 9 Assists: 7 And he's obviously not afraid of " mixing " it, with 8 yellow cards! The site I'm using here, also usefully lists particular strengths and weaknesses from stats taken over the past two seasons. Very strong strength: Dribbling. Weaknesses: Holding on to the ball and defensive contribution. Not telling anyone what to think, make your own minds up!

This could be a really good move. I can see Fatawu being the starter, Ogbene moving on, McAteer being the impact off the bench (he was showing real improvement towards the end), Burns being the squad player (always good when called upon) and maybe O'Neil moves Egeli into the number 10 spot as he plays so much better there for Norway
planetblue_2011 added 19:38 - Jul 16
Does that mean mcateer will be going back to Leicester? We have too many Right wing players already!! Fatawa would be decent signing tho
Rimsy added 19:39 - Jul 16
Good player. Ogbene will surely be on his way, Egeli hopefully gets a chance inside. That leaves Burns, McAteer and Fatawu to cover the right. I'd be happy with that.

darkhorse28, I don't take issue with your posts as many do, some I have some agreement with and others I don't, and your opinion is as valid as mine or anyone elses. However, there's one part sentence I do have to take issue with from the above post. " Years to plan for this window " Well, probably not a great idea, as if we had planned years ago to be in League One or the Championship next season, we'd be in one hell of a mess, as we would if we now found ourselves in the Championship say, and had planned years ago for the PL. I'm all for planning ahead, that's taking it a lot too far.

Obviously a really good player. However, was he not one of the "i can't be arsed" brigade that got Leicester relegated. Massive red flag on attitude for me.

We’re playing 10 wingers and a goalie next season! WTF we have enough wingers, what we need is strikers and central midfielders.
