Fiorentina Linked With Philogene
Saturday, 1st Aug 2026 14:47

Serie A Fiorentina are the latest club to be linked with Blues winger Jaden Philogene.

Various stories over the summer have claimed the 24-year-old has told Town he wants to leave the club, although manager Gary O’Neil dismissed the claims as “noise”.

Fabrizio Romano is the latest to report Philogene’s apparent desire to move on and says Fiorentina and clubs in Germany and Spain are interested. Bologna, Roma and Benfica were linked in previous reports.

Philogene is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2029 having been signed from Villa for around £20 million in January 2025.

Last season, he scored 13 times, including goals in both derby victories over Norwich City.

Meanwhile, Blues target Sasa Lukic started for Fulham in their 2-1 friendly victory over Farense this morning.

Reports yesterday claimed a move was close, however, the Serbian midfielder’s involvement today, he played 60 minutes, would suggest a deal isn’t imminent.

Elsewhere, various reports suggest Julio Enciso’s return to the Blues from O’Neil’s former club Strasbourg is may well happen. Paraguay international Enciso was on loan at Town in the second half of 2024/25 from his previous club Brighton.

There is so much noise around Philogene that I think it’s clear he will be moving on. It’s a shame because I think he has real quality and is still very young but so be it. I’d hope we can get 30 million for him but if not at least 25 and we have already signed Maeda as his replacement with Clarke already an important player for us.

We will invest that money in a quality addition in either midfield or up front. Time to sell.

The lack of premier league interest will likely mean the fee we get for Philogene is much lower than we would want. Can’t see a European side offering more than 20 / 25 million. The number of reports relaying the same info also probably means Philogene is struggling to generate interest at the price we would (would imagine we’re asking for 30/35)

Given the value of the PL TV contract guarantee that promotion brings getting the "top" fee isnt critical. After all, Maeda can play in that Channel and we paid £10m for him.
If he wants away, and I sense the PL might be a bit too physical for him, let him go. If we can get 30m Euros for him I would take it all day long.
He is contracted here until 29 so theres no panic to let him go at a loss either

Thinking about it, it does seem a shame that we never really got to see that front three of Delap, Hutchinson and Philogene play together much and develop as an attacking trio.

They all started against Liverpool in Jan 2025 but I think only featured all together once more in a defeat to Sunderland.

What could have been!

If Jaden has his heart set on playing elsewhere abroad then the club should help him find another club however, Ashton must stand firm on Jaden's valuation......I would be VERY disappointed if we allowed him to leave for less than £40million considering he has 3 years remaining on hs Town contract. I would hasted to add that Aston Villa may well have a sell-on clause of 20% or more..? Maybe this season he goes out on load with Town receiving a modest loan fee of a few £million instead??

Should Romano still be considered a legitimate source? He's a PR not a journalist. He's been banned as a source on Reddit

Can't see why we would be wanting £40m for a guy after one decent Championship season after paying £20m for him when in the PL. Move him on, yes a decent profit but double the value is a stretch

Hang on a minute! Didn't you report the manager saying he has spoken to him many times and is in his plans ? He hadn't asked to leave. Who do we believe if not the manager ?

His agent must have a liking for luxury cars/yachts etc.

I hope his exit is not as messy as his entrance.

muccletonjoe…. Don’t be silly. O’Neil would be an idiot to say anything different. The best thing for the club of Philogene is going to go is make it clear he is very important to us. If you listen to the interview he did use the phrases “until he’s not our player” and “things move quickly in football” which I thought were revealing but also not wise things to say as they scream that he might be on his way and we are expecting that.

Does seem to be one of those “where there’s smoke there’s fire” type stories that just won’t go away, be a shame to lose Jaden - unless he doesn’t wanna be here of course.

Obviously the manager has said his in his plans but will be interesting to see where Maeda plays during preseason, if he’s constantly playing on the left then you would think that increases the chance of Jaden leaving?

I dont think Ashton will let him go for less than the £20m we paid for him but agree with others that its unlikely we will see much higher than that

I would prefer him to go sooner, and not end up like Hutchinson and sulking. Just the timing seems strange. A decent season with us in the prem and bigger clubs will be after him. I think 25- 30 will be enough to sell him

Monkey Blue. You are being daft if you think the manager would deliberately tell us lies after being in the job less than a.month ! That would mean no one would believe another word he tells us.

I wouldn't read to much into the fact Lukic played for Fulham. They have a duty to get him fit, while hes there, just as we have with Harry Clarke, whos played in friendlies. And think we all know je won't be here, come the start of the season.

I think I might get lockjaw soon as my mouth seems to be increasingly going into yawning spasms. Not just the JP " saga ", pretty much everything else. I presume what's happening here is, there's a rather large blockage formed in the transfer dealings sink pipe, not just here of course, that when someone finally clears it with a footballing plunger, there'll be a flood, maybe time to get the ark ready, not beyond the bounds of possibility they could be coming in two by two :)

Never been convinced about his commitment to the cause. Thinks he's bigger and better than everyone else. His i don't care personality is so obvious. Not a team player.
