I haven't seen him play but his CV looks good - 26 years old, 6 foot tall, with PL and Champions League experience. If what I've read about him is correct, he's a strong and athletic, no frills defensive midfielder whose strengths include winning the ball back and then quickly finding a team mate with a pass. If so, he is just what we need.

Don’t know much about the player but we need reinforcements (badly) & the profile suggests he’s better than what we currently have.

Given the fact that Taylor & Matusiwa will both miss preseason, just wondering if that effects the amount or calibre of midfielders we’ll be looking to sign?

Looks like another positive addition to our squad,several in’s and outs still to come … GON will certainly have the squad needed to survive in premiership… the real test will be can he develop the tactics, team selection and apply the coaching and management skills … we will need to be patient… hopefully this squad will survive and be built on over next few years …

Just look at the experience we have in the squad compared to last time... Whilst you don't want a team full of players relegated the year before, I think having a few and the lessons learned can count for a lot. It was his first season in England last year and he's going to be so much better for that this.

I cant remember exactly but I think last time out, out of our first game 11 only Tuenzebe had played in the premier league before.... now we have multiple new signings plus the likes Leif, Clarke, Greaves, Walton etc. who all have PL experience.

We fans also know what to expect...unlike Hull and Coventry's

Whilst I've gone on record as saying I don't want many ( very few actually ) Championship players in a PL side, that doesn't include anyone who's played in the PL the season before and just been relegated, especially if they've never kicked a ball in the Championship or lower in their career so far. To add to that he's only played in top leagues, albeit at a lower level than the PL. In the end it doesn't matter to me whether an incoming player would be my personal choice or not, as with managers. I will always welcome them, as I want them to succeed, for obvious reasons. So I will wait for the confirmation before I do that. I have one other thing to share, should anyone be interested.

Basically, anything above 50% is above average going up to to top class in that element. Below 50%, less good to very poor. I think we can all work out what type of player he is!

Hollandayze02, that is precisely the sort of player you want in a CDM position, solid. Goes about his work with no fuss, but would be greatly missed if not there. Even the very best such as Claude Makelele were like that, mind you he was a true great in that position. Amen to your last two sentences!

Talking of central midfield, do we think Jack Clarke could be repurposed to do a job there?

I think back to some of those Hail Mary matches last year, when he would pick up the ball on the edge of the box and charge forward to start a counter attack. I believe he can 'beat the press' which is prevalent in the Premier League. Pretty decent finisher too.

I just sense he can be more than just a winger, as when he took over in the Southampton game. Or do I have too much of a Clarke soft spot?
