Former Town Women’s boss Joe Sheehan has left the club after almost nine years to join WSL Charlton Athletic Women as assistant manager.

Sheehan joined the Blues in October 2017, initially as academy manager, before being appointed first-team manager in February 2019.

During his seven years in charge, he saw Town to two promotions, from tier four into WSL2 following their FAWNL Southern Premier Division title in 2024/25.

He left that role in January when David Wright took over, but took a new position of head of player development and pro game academy manager.

“Everyone at Town would like to thank Joe for his work and dedication during his nine years at the club and wish him the best of luck for the future,” a Town statement reads.

Charlton Women finished third in WSL2 last season but were promoted to the top flight via the play-offs.
