Town midfielder Fin Barbrook has completed his season-long loan move to Scottish Premiership Falkirk on loan.

The 21-year-old had been involved with the Blues’ first team throughout pre-season with Town short on senior midfielders with Azor Matusiwa and Jack Taylor still recovering after surgery in May.

But the Blues have added Florentino Luis this week with Sasa Lukic’s signing from Fulham close to being completed.

Bairns boss John McGlynn said: “He’s one we’ve been chasing for some time, so we’re delighted to have him here.

“He’s a 21-year-old central midfield player who’s 6ft 2in and we’ve been crying out for someone with that kind of stature in our midfield.

“He’s had some good loan deals already, so he’s experienced at going out on loan. He’s got the size and stature that we’re looking for, and he’s a footballer who can play and take care of the ball.

“We’d like to thank everyone at Ipswich. Danny Searle, the loan manager, has been different class.

“We’re delighted to get Finley on board. He’s another piece of the jigsaw puzzle that we’re putting together. We’re absolutely getting there and we’re delighted with the signing.

“He’s one who is the glue that maybe just holds things all together and gets us clicking. That’s what we’re looking for, so we’re looking forward to seeing him play.”

Southwold-born Barbrook has previously had spells on loan at Chelmsford, Sutton, Lincoln and Colchester.

He made his only competitive appearance for Town in the Carabao Cup tie at Bromley at the start of last season.

Meanwhile, former Blues central defender Tommy Smith, 36, has joined Cole Skuse’s Bury Town for the season having left Braintree at the end of last season.

Smith spent the summer with New Zealand at the World Cup but without adding to the appearances he made at the 2010 finals when a Town player.
