Leif Davis and Colette Cavanagh have been appointed trustees of the Ipswich Town Foundation.

Previously, Conor Chaplin and Natasha Thomas were on the board of the club’s charitable arm but the pair left for Leicester and Wrexham respectively earlier in the summer.

Davis, who has been at the club since the summer of 2022, and Cavanagh, who joined in January this year, will be responsible for pushing the Foundation’s message in the club’s dressing rooms, taking part in Foundation activities and supporting their teammates doing the same.

“We’re delighted to welcome Leif and Colette onto the board of trustees,” said Dan Palfrey, the CEO of the Ipswich Town Foundation.

“Both have shown remarkable commitment to the Foundation with Leif’s growing year on year and Colette going above and beyond to know and understand our work.

“They have a clear understanding of what we do, why we do it, and where we’re trying to go.

“We lead the way as a club and a Foundation in player engagement, and it’ll be down to Leif and Colette as trustees to lead by example and to ensure our key messages and values are represented in both dressing rooms.”

Davis added: “It is a real honour to be named a trustee of the Ipswich Town Foundation. During my time at the club, it has been a privilege to have the opportunity to see first-hand just how big a role the Foundation plays in our community and the impact the work it does can have on the lives of so many people.

“As football players we have a duty to do everything we can to help and I have been inspired by the work Conor Chaplin and Natasha Thomas have done over the last few years.

“I’m proud to now take that work on on behalf of the men's first-team and I can't wait to get started.”

Cavanagh has already volunteered at the Foundation’s Beyond Labels: Adult PAN Football sessions and the EMPOWER Hub - Hot Meal Group, supporting those most at need in Ipswich.

“It’s a massive honour to be named a Trustee,” she continued “I’ve seen first-hand the impact that the Foundation has on the community, and it’s something that I’m absolutely delighted to be a part of.

“The impact that we have on the community is massive and to be a part of that within Ipswich is massive for me, so I’m relishing every moment and taking every opportunity.”

Town chairman and CEO Mark Ashton, who also chairs the Foundation board of trustees, said: “When we first joined the football club we knew we needed to rebuild the Community Trust - now the Foundation - and as part of that we wanted to do something different and meaningful in appointing players to the board of trustees.

“We need a bridge from the Foundation into our men’s and women’s teams to ensure the players fully understand the importance of their engagement with the community, and that responsibility now falls on Leif and Colette to continue the brilliant work done by Conor
Chaplin and Natasha Thomas since their appointment in 2022.

“Having spoken to Leif and Colette about their roles and responsibilities, I know they’ll be brilliant and I’m delighted to have them on board.”
