Monday, 10th Aug 2026 19:46

Town have been drawn at home to League One Leicester City in round one of the Carabao Cup.

The game will see an early reunion with Blues legends Wes Burns and Conor Chaplin, who joined the Foxes this summer, while Abdul Fatawu will also be facing his old club.

Leicester beat Northampton Town 1-0 at home in their round one tie.

Second round matches will be played in the week commencing August 24th.

You didn't mention Mcateer also ex Leicester. Hopefully GON will pick a strong side and win a cup tie. Hopefully we can give Chappers and Wes a standing ovation they didn't get before going.

How difficult will it be to not cheer if Wes or chappers score. I’m Ipswich through and through but not sure I care enough about the Carabao cup to not be happy if they score. The last 4/5 years are other than the Bobby years the best for pure joy this club has had.

Will be good to give Chappers and Burns the reception they deserve.
Also good to avoid Norwich, as it will be another year gone by,still unbeaten against them !! We'll soon be singing 14 years and still no win !
(As they liked to remind us)
The boots on the other foot now !

Home game against league one opposition. Great. Sentiment must be taken out of it as winning breeds confidence. It’s a game we should and must win.

As long as we score three I’ll be happy if Wes and Conor score one more time at PR

I'm confused, thought they had already done round one, yet the official caption says it is. Was it a preliminary round on Saturday?

Ahh funny old world... perfect opportunity to give them the send off they deserve. Hope they both play and we get to do it properly.

None of the nonsense that we shouldn't cheer/chant for opposition players. These are two of the greatest ITFC players of the modern era and of a generation... plus it's a bloody cup game that we always seem to lose regardless.

Hope.we get a final chance to watch and celebrate two legends!

I love this, and I hope GO plays a proper team. With so many new players in the squad we can't waste opportunities to get them playing together

Wonderful, perfect end of they both play at some point. I hope their manager them on or off separately so we can sing out their names/songs.

With fewer league fixtures this season it is essential we her in as many cup games in to maintain match fitness throughout squad. Yes an unexpected chance to say a proper farewell to Conor and Wes but we will have to beware those crosses from Wes to Chappers lingering on the edge of the penalty box
