Jamie Mauge scored twice as Town’s U21s beat Blackburn Rovers 4-1 at Portman Road in Premier League 2.

Striker Mauge put the Blues ahead in the 22nd minute, Tudor Mendel, who made his first-team debut in the Carabao Cup victory over Leicester on Tuesday, having supplied the cross.

Mauge doubled the lead from the penalty spot five minutes into the second half after winger Mendel had been fouled.

Skipper Jacob Mazionis added the third on 61, before the visitors pulled one back 10 minutes from the scheduled end via Tino Goremusandu.

But sub Frankie Runham restored Town’s three-goal advantage seven minutes into time added-on to secure a first victory of the season for John McGreal’s men.
