Town Make Flemming Bid
Monday, 31st Aug 2026 13:04

Town have made a formal bid for Burnley striker Zian Flemming.

The Blues were first linked with the 28-year-old a week ago and now, as per widespread reports, we understand an offer has been tabled.

Town want to add an experienced frontman to their ranks prior to the transfer window closing tomorrow at 11pm with a loan move for Aston Villa’s Tammy Abraham appearing to have stalled, the clubs having agreed terms but the player not having acceded to the switch.

Speaking after yesterday’s game at Manchester United, manager Gary O’Neil confirmed the Blues are looking to do more business.

“We’re trying to do a couple of bits if we can,” O’Neil said. “No confirmation from me on positions, but we are trying to do a couple more if we can. Let’s see how the next couple of days unfold, but we are trying.”

Flemming has been tipped for a move away from Turf Moor all summer following Burnley’s relegation to the Championship with Everton, Lille and Brentford having been linked and is understood to have told the Clarets he wants a move away to either the Premier League or another top European division.

Yesterday, it was reported that Ligue 1 Lille were in advanced talks to sign the 6ft 1in tall frontman.

The Dutchman joined the Lancastrians from Millwall in August 2024, initially on loan with the move made permanent for £7 million the following summer.

Last season, Amsterdam-born Flemming netted 12 times in total, 11 in the Premier League, and this term has already bagged three in two matches.

Well he'd certainly be an upgrade over Akpom

Essential we get this done, even if we have to pay over the odds. After yesterday, I think we may need 2 strikers....

Really like Flemming so would be pleased with him!

A left centre back as well please.

Would be a good signing. A strong, physical frontman who scored 11 goals for a poor Burnley side (Delap scored only one more in his PL season for us)

He is used to the PL / English game, so should hit the ground running, compared if were to go for an overseas player.

Abraham seems to be our first choice but Flemming is certainly no last resort option.

Was hoping this wasn't going to happen. Watched him on saturday, did nothing.

Get him in AND Abraham on loan - now that would be impressive.

blues1 - down voting as usual, reading into this I would say Tammy might be dwelling over it coming here...that's why a bid has been put in for Flemming (Bob) :)

From what I have seen of Flemming this would be an excellent capture. Big, strong, bustling old style centre forward and knows how to score in PL…….and he’s Dutch so would join a history of quality Dutchmen at Ipswich Town

Surprised we haven’t gone after him before now proven PL striker but let’s hope we can still get it done.

Why do we always leave it so late in the window to get a striker. Prices will be inflated now because they know we are desperate. What does our recruitment team do when it comes to strikers ? They dont seem to have a clue, they have all year to unearth someone. I hear we only got Emersonn on the back of Hull being interested and we swooped in to nab him. If teams like that can unearth strikers why in hell can’t we ? Oh and while we are at it we need a RB and a LCB. No good leaving the job only half finished and then praying.

Leaving it a little late should have dropped Tammy 2 days ago could be a bad decision?

Would be a decent signing and if we are being honest Akpom despite scoring an open goal yesterday is not at this level so I would not be surprised if we are after x2 9s with Akpom leaving. LCB is definitely a weakness, Greaves not good enough so that position imo needs filling.

Said before the Sunderland the squad was missing a sprinkle of Dutch ingenuity, might have been influenced by Frans Thijssen‘a appearance in the fan zone but the Dutch do seem to do well for us. Would be a welcome addition for me.

DannyITFC I think that’s a bit unfair to Greaves yes he had 10 minutes from hell but nothing he could of done about the OG (bonkers rule anyway) and the pen he gave away was split seconds away from him getting the ball first. Yes I’m sure there are better options but striker or 2 have to be the priority

At this point, and, having seen Akpom yesterday, it really needs to be Flemming and Abraham

Norwich recently ran Burnley ragged - is that a good recommendation ??

……. I think we may have missed the Boat in terms of what we obviously still require, after yesterday proving the point - but leaving without any !!

Get it done, we've been sniffing around this guy since the end of last season, time to get it over the line.

No clue if this is in addition to TA but hope so, and yes, I have to agree we are in need of a Diop sized LCB.

But I have to laugh at soem of the critcisms on here about the recruitment team. We have 12 signed already and have spent more than any promoted club in history. EVERYBODY does late business, it's the nature of the window

Abraham doesn’t want to join us as he wants champions league not a relegation battle , a lazy arrogant player I recon . He has wasted our time .

Essential we bring a striker on. We don’t know extent of Emmersonn injury. We just have Akpom.

still think Lankshear or Larin would be sound buys.
